Trump’s immigration policies get strong backing in new poll

A majority of voters gave President Trump’s immigration policies high marks, according to a new Harvard CAPS/Harris poll released on Monday.

Sixty percent of voters said they support Trump’s efforts to close the border, including 89 percent of Republicans, 55 percent of Independents and 34 percent of Democrats.

Seventy-five percent of respondents also said they support the administration’s efforts to deport criminals who are in the country illegally, including 93 percent of Republicans, 70 percent of Independents, and 59 percent of Democrats.

“Huge majorities of Americans support the removal of criminals here illegally but also care about human rights and due process being observed,” said the poll’s director Mark Penn.

The same poll found that voters were divided over Trump’s approach to immigration enforcement. Fifty-two percent said the administration was “doing the right thing” in enforcing its immigration policy, while 48 percent said it is “going too far in its enforcement actions.”

Fifty-nine percent of respondents said there needs to be more due process guaranteed hearings to prevent unfair deportations, while 41 percent said the government needs to act quickly to deport criminals from the U.S.

The Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll survey was conducted from July 6-8, 2025 and surveyed 2,044 registered voters. It is a collaboration of the Center for American Political Studies at Harvard University and the Harris Poll.

The survey is an online sample drawn from the Harris Panel and weighted to reflect known demographics. The margin of error is plus or minus 2.2 percentage points.

A friend told me yesterday—her cousin, born here, lived here all his life, two generations deep in this country—was deported. ICE showed up, no record, no reason, just brown skin and a name that didn’t sound like theirs. Sent him to Ecuador, a place he’s never even seen. And you wonder how something like that happens. How a whole system can forget to be human. And yet, in the middle of all that cold machinery, it was a neighbor who stepped up—watched the kids, called a lawyer, held the family together. That’s the thing about kindness—it’s not in the headlines, but it’s the only thing that still holds us up when everything else forgets we’re people.
People have every reason to be angry since instances like these make up roughly 80% of all deportations under trump

Brown skin doesn't belong here and needs to fucking leave. Our government should never sell citizenship to people who are not of European stock regardless of why they're here or what they have to offer. You have your own nations, go the fuck home and stay there.

Understand that nobody can be responsible for you if you stay, and that this doesn't end with illegals. That's just the soft sell.

The brown people you so despise were in parts of this country centuries before the white Anglo got there. Indeed, sometimes they invited the gringos in. That's not even considering the true natives, whose skin is far from your pasty ass and who first walked the land that is now America during the time of megafauna. (Of course, I am assuming you actually ARE white, and not a shill browner than shit)

I heard something almost identical from a coworker—her brother-in-law, also born and raised here, picked up on his way home from work. No warning, no charges, no explanation besides a system that conveniently targeted his last name and skin tone. He ended up detained for weeks while his family scrambled to prove what should've never been in question. And while the agencies stayed silent, it was a retired teacher down the block who organized meals, helped with paperwork, and sat with the kids every afternoon and helped them get an immigration lawyer who returned him home

Because Regan gave amnesty to three million illegals in 1986, and every subsequent administration has been allowing demographic replacement to continue.
The dems who seethe over deportations are in the same category as republicans who pretend like their hands are tied when pressed on the issue of protecting the southern border. They're the modern equivalent of aristocrat confederates overseeing a plantation.

>The brown people you so despise were in parts of this country centuries before the white Anglo got there.
NTA, time for a /his/tory lesson. The "brown people" that were in parts of this country centuries before were in very small number and were getting their asses handed to them by the Apache to the point where they were offering what few goods they had in exchange for not getting killed. The Mexican government couldn't give a fuck about those up north beyond making sure they paid their taxes and had such a bitch of a time getting people to go there that they had to force people, even giving criminals a choice to go up north or rot in jail - most preferred jail. After Mexico achieved it's independence from Spain their finances were in bad shape so they taxed the hell out of the north to the point that they couldn't give any offerings to the Apache anymore, and ended up getting massacred while the Mexican government looked the other way.

The point is if it wasn't for the U.S. - Mexican war the "brown people" in states like Arizona, New Mexico and Texas might not even exist, between getting killed by the Apache on one side and being taxed to death by their government on the other. When the US took over these lands the Mexican Americans were actually happy to A) no longer paying everything in taxes and B) fuck the Apache up for a change - and boy did they! See the Camp Grant massacre in Arizona for more details.

Side note: Since almost all of the early settlers in this area were men, and options being what they were, you had white Americans starting families with Mexican American women. They started adopting Mexican customs and even speaking Spanish, in what I would consider a successful melting pot. Unfortunately, the development of railroads gave an influx of people from the east who brought along their racism and discouraged "race mixing" that shot all of that progress to hell.

tl;dr Mexico barely had a grasp on the territory back then.

Why would you ever just type "bump" and think that's an acceptable contribution? Do you not understand how imageboards work? Threads are supposed to get replies because people are interested in the content, not because some thread-obsessed bump goblin is terrified of slipping into the archive. You're artificially inflating visibility without adding anything of value—no commentary, no image, no context—just a lazy, low-effort bump like some desperate signal for attention. It’s spam. It’s literally spam. If everyone did that, the board would be unreadable. Either engage with the discussion or let the thread die on its own merits. Holy hell.

And don’t even get me started on how it screws with thread flow. Someone sees a bumped thread, assumes there's been an update or actual discussion, clicks in—and it's just you with your stupid little four-letter ritual. It’s misleading is what it is, it wastes everyone’s time, and it clutters the board with non-content. Maybe you should just accept that, I'm so tired of seeing "bump" everywhere I look. Bump what? No just stop

They are literal traitors by every definition of the word.

As usual, MAGA is retarded and doesn't realize that they're already underwater with independents on the issue and are only being propped up the fact that 90% of Republicans will support anything Trump does.

It turns out that when most people say they want mass deportations, what they really want is a small number in the bottom of their news feed telling them that X number of criminals were deported today (which is funny considering Trump can't even deport as many people as Biden did: https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/immigration/trumps-immigration-record-far-high-arrests-low-deportations-rcna217752). What they don't want is a public spectacle of cruelty, which is exactly what the Stephen Miller-type's want with their ASMRs and alligator camps. Of course, MAGA will continue to double-down on showing off, ironically making themselves even more unpopular.

>If undocumented residents had been entirely excluded from census data used for apportionment, no more than two House seats and three Electoral College votes would have shifted between political parties in any year since 1980; this would have had no bearing on party control of the House or the outcome of presidential elections
If you get rid of illegal immigration from the census, it actually hurts places like Texas and Florida. But the effect is minimal either way.

OK so trimming the illegal immigration and bringing crime/foreign infiltration down is good and all, but what the fuck are you gonna do about your dogshit birthrate without importing millions of people from cultures that encourage having lots of kids??

Western countries are having so few kids that they literally need to fly in hordes of jeets to keep their economy moving long term, anywhere that urbanised their population centres in the 19th/20th centuries has fucking catastrophic demography and nobody is talking about it, not even the schizos on here.

I'm not American, but I hate the modern democrats, but I think this is the problem they were really trying to solve with this open border bullshit. The problem is they can't bring it up because even though it's valid it looks too much like replacement theory and everyone would go ballistic.

Immigration won't solve falling birthrates either. Look at Canada. The have more immigrants than the US and birth rates about the same as Japan (1.3 vs 1.2)

There is nothing that can be done to increase birth rates. People don't like hearing that but it's true. The choice is between having a country with low birth rates or a country with low birthrates and tons of brown people
