I would've said the Tacoma, but the new messican ones I've seen already have their interior falling apart. No clue on the Frontiers, but I'd just say look for an older well maintained Tacoma.

A Tundra is 10k more than a Tacoma. It's worse if you want any offroad equipment. A TRD Tacoma is is 42k but the cheapest TRD Tundra is 72k and is a hybrid standard.

>Considering one of these two
Both are good. I went with the previous generation Frontier myself. No regrets. Both are surprisingly capable on poorly made trails. When I chose the Frontier, it was cheaper and seemed simpler. Titan swapping was also a consideration with the suspension, but the Frontier seems to have strong enough parts without swapping. Titan has a longer, wider wheelbase and is a few inches too long for the garage, otherwise I would have been looking at those too.
My Frontier isn't fuel efficient nor does it have a tight turning radius. These are things to consider if you're expecting lots of freeway miles or frequent parallel parking. Not sure if the newer generation has these same attributes or if they are even worth thinking about. I didn't get a truck for city driving.
In all honesty, test drive both for ride comfort. If the seats are equally comfortable to you, go for the one closer to your house. Neither truck seems terribly disappointing.

Frontier
>N/A V6, the last of its kind in midsizes
>I forget if the automatic is 6-speed instead of a 10-speed that skips all gears.

Tacoma
>TT4 gasser, which should've been diesel because how pigfat it became
>Toyota pretends to offer a manual still but it's limited to one config and bed size.
>Hybrid is implemented as a torque adder, not exactly for improving mpg even if it was done to fool EPA numbers.

So you have a compromise engine vs a compliance engine, and practically no other differentiating features aside from whether or not you like how it looks.

These trucks at stock ride height sit noticeably lower than some crossovers and SUVs out now. So i'd say that "midsize" is not that inaccurate. You notice it a lot more in person than looking at photos.

It's not really a "crewcab". A midsize crewcab backseat is only as big as a half ton extended cab. An midsize extended cab backseat is useless. And on most Tacomas you can get the double cab with the full 6' bed.

Except they are. When you sell 100x more for a product you can sell it for a lot cheaper. You can get a nice 4x4 crew cab half ton for under $50k. Any off road trim small truck is going to be $45k+ once the dealers done with you.

You can get a brand new frontier pro 4x for well under 40k. You'll be lucky to buy a new full size 4x4 anything for 40k. If you do it will be a base model work truck, compared tp a loaded mid size. The mid size truck is more practical anyways, considering 90% of the people that buy trucks don't even need them.

The new Tacoma is as big as previous gen half-tons. They gave in to fat-ass reviewers that are used to half-tons and bitched nonstop about the tacoma being cramped. The Frontier should be 'smaller' but they're definitely bigger than nearly all crossovers. The original midsizes from two decades ago ride at the same height as modern crossovers.

>>28432647
Dealers always get the 5' beds despite the option.

>>28432935
No, and the fuckers keep "talking" about releasing a new one and then release another overpriced crew cab trim for their half-ton.
They probably don't want to butt into Gladiator sales without just making a lame unibody Maverick competitor.

>>28433060
RAM was the last one to put a V8 in a midsize.
High powered engines in small vehicles is fun as hell, but between the regulators and the bean counters and the 'value' engineering, they just don't fucking do it anymore.

That said, I kinda want a V8 single cab 6' bed F150 XL but automatics put me to sleep and it's still much bigger than I want.

The frontier is mid, and the clown nose front is a bit off putting. However, Iโ€™ve had one for 2 years and itโ€™s alright to drive for the price. Cruise control has the transmission hunting for gears occasionally , which is obnoxious, but turning on tow mode fixes it.

You probably understand this, but just for any dumb bitches in this thread, the hassles of a full size compared to a midsize truck are not worth it if you're just looking at a half ton. Unless you're 300 lbs, you should always get the midsize unless you need a 3/4 or 1 ton.

I need to replace my late 90s jeep, I am mechanically retarded and need something newer. I can get a 2025 PRO4X for 45k, have 20k I can put down and make 110k a year. Is this a financially retarded move? Also, should I wait for the 2026? I love the frontier but that orange in the interior pisses me off, same with the low quality background camera. Think that will change at all for next years model?

The dealers order them, Typically there are 5 to 10 in each major city at a dealer that deals with business or city contacts. ordering is also an option.

I had an order in for a 2025 trd off road manual without a sunroof, after 5 1/2 months of no trucks being available on the U.S. west coast rejon toyota gave me my money back and I bought an F150. I like it enough that i'm going to get a lowered 2wd rcsb for my daily driver next year.

There are no good 1/2 tons on the market rn retard.

The only trucks worth buying are midsized trucks or heavy duty diesels.

Depends on what you mean by "offroad capable".
Unibody with no low gearing has limitations. Simulated limited slip differential (using brakes) isn't as capable as a locking differential.
It'll handle dirt roads without issue. Even if the road has a deep rut somewhere. If a road goes through a creekbed, you should be able to go through that part of the creek. If you veer off the established road to explore the creek, you might have a bad day. You are more likely going to need momentum on steep inclines. On uneven surfaces, you are more likely going to be on three wheels waiting for the simulated LSD to kick in and stop the airborne wheel from spinning.

You'll be able to go places a lowered sports car cannot. A frontier will be able to go places you cannot. A lifted jeep with front and rear locking differential and electronic detaching anti sway bar will be able to do circles around a stuck frontier. While even a prius can technically be steered off the road and continue to travel while off the road, you might have more in mind when you think "offroad capable". But I'm not psychic so your idea of what you want is a mystery to me.

Weirdly specific thing to gripe about but if the interior color bothers you that much then the SL trim has almost all of the same options as a pro4x but without the bright stitching. The only shit the pro4x trucks would have that the SLs donโ€™t is probably the tow hooks, skid plates, good shocks etc. Just a thought. But a 3rd gen taco would be just as good of a choice if not better.
