>>28447579 (OP) In my state, you used to be able to register them, but then the BMV changed their policy and decided you couldn't register fresh ones anymore. No law on the books, just changed their own policy. However, it didn't effect the ones that were already registered, or if you buy one that's registered in another state already you can reregister it in our state. Just a confusing mess, but it just means no one directly imports them here.

>legalize WHY WERE THEY BANNED IN THE FIRST PLACE, YOU BLUE STATE FUCK?
Ohio here, theres a guy by me who has 2 Kei Vans, hes always had some little japanese car but for the past several years been rocking these. One is pretty regular looking and a basic silver. But the other is more done up, a nice yellow paint with black rims. Seems like it might be a turbo version with the little hoodscoop.
>>28447579 (OP) why are kei cars not legal to being with? >>28447598 most of the states are red like nevada, alamaba, alaska, iowa. some blue states like vermont, oregon, connecticut, new jersy
im in wisconsin and i would much rather spend $6k to import a kei truck than pay $8k for a non rusty dodge ram or f150, which are harder to find in non shity condition.
>>28447644 because they mean less profits for the people who want to sell you fuckhueg truggs and the people around the Kei truck owner might realize you actually don't need the $100k Gigarado 7500 XLTZBBQ+ Pearl Harbor 1941 Edition with a time bomb wet oil pump belt to pick up mulch from Lowe's, so they lobby against them since this shithole country and its corrupt bribe taking politicians decided whoever has the most money gets to choose the laws
>>28447683 It's not the big 3 lobbying to end Kei Trucks, retard. No one who was going to get a Silverado or even a Maverick would choose a kei truck over that for any reason. It's companies like John Deere, Bobcat, Polaris, and any other company that makes a small "utility" vehicles. Why buy a John Deere Gator for $17k when you can get a Kei Truck from Japan that can do all the same stuff, has an enclosed cabin, and that you can actually take on the road for only a couple grand. The flood of kei trucks decimates any market for those.
so are they going to start selling them here or it will still be an import thing?

>>28448076 But it's not. If you look at who's pushing the money for these States to ban them, it always traces back to SXS manufacturers, not large truck manufacturers. It'd be like if Harley and Ducati tried to get 2-smoke motorized bike kits and 50cc Chinese scooters banned, they wouldn't. No one who's going to get a Panigale V4 or Road King is thinking about getting a Taotao Pony instead. However, Honda, Vespa, and other non-chinese scooter manufacturers did push for harsher regulations on 50cc vehicles in California under CARB and got plenty of those through to harm their cheaper competition.
>>28450805 That's got me thinking, which would be the better engine: a 654cc 13b based single rotor, or a two rotor engine with a total displacement of ~660cc? Essentially a 50% scale 13b.

I had no idea these things were banned in a few states and heavily regulated in others. Explains why I've only ever seen a Honda Beat on my streets twice in the last 10 years and never again.
I like how they say you can only go so fast with these things. Lol. So you get a ticket for going the speed limit or keeping up with traffic on the interstate where it's not banned from, but can't go under the speed limit. Basically only allotting you 5mph of leeway? Sounds like retardation at it's finest.
The i3 in the az-1 makes 64 horsepower. Cutting a 13b in half would yield minimum 100 horsepower (bone stock, naturally aspirated) and it would be significantly lighter.

>>28450849 The retarded part (that makes the corruption so obvious) is that there are plenty of cars out there with a power-to-weight ratio like a kei car. Pre-war shitboxes, econoboxes from the 50s/60s, compacts all the way to the 80s in some cases and noone ever thought about limiting their access to highways And then, as an added bonus, most of the anti-kei legislation covers all jap imports. >Citroen 2CV? Yes please, there's your onramp >Toyota Crown V12? registration revoked
>>28451104 it's obviously aiming directly at jap kei cars, no one cares about our safety or other bs reasons

>>28447579 (OP) Hopefully it will happen. if more Americans will buy kei cars and drive them on public roads. Perhaps it will make used cars even cheaper in America, probably would also show American car manufacturers that they should build and sell smaller cars again.
