On a scale of -berg to -stein I'd say about a -owitz. I'm assuming some krautshit and/or luxobarge tax is at play.

Without knowing what it's going on it's hard to say, really. Also, learn2 wrench? I got quoted $700 for my 3 series when it went in fo warranty work, but upgraded to drilled front rotors and still only spent like $150 (rear ones had another 50k miles or a few track days left on them.) My f350 would be about $350 in parts and machining to do both axles with quality parts in this monopoly money shit show. My old Ranger was $11 not including sales tax for cheap front pads on as-was rotors, but that made sense in college and also is probably $35 adjusted for inflation.

Drums are cheaper to manufacture because the tolerances can be looser and the force is mostly levered from the rotational motion (smaller hydraulics) but a little bit more involved to service.
As other anons said, rockauto the parts and YouTube the job. You can probably get all the tools and supplies you need, including jack/stands and a case of beer, and still be hundreds of dollars ahead. Even if it's even money, you'll have accumulated beer, tools and knowledge.

Had a hunch it was a Mirage kek, but that's not old/rusty enough to warrant a quote that basically says "please leave" imho

Drums are cheaper to produce, but take a few extra steps to service. So they factor in a little extra time, but I doubt that's impacting the price significantly

wat, they wear the braking surface too just like rotors, they should have a discard measurement stamped somewhere for the inside diameter. you'll probably also have a hard time finding someone who can cut them these days so reusing them with new shoes without a resurface risks pedal pulsation and increased noise, just like pad slapping over old rotors

Jesus Anon, it's just regular service, they don't give a shit about ripping around in your car, why do some guys take going in for service as some personal attack? If anything, labor rates for the techs is so damn low, that they're the cucks from working on these stupid things, I just go grab something to eat, then slide em an hour of labor plus the cost of a rotor resurface and pads and it's done and then I'm back to driving.

im ok with farming out the jobs you literally can't do, like the rotor resurfacing. nobody has the machine to do that in their own garage, so ok, send them out.
but you should be doing the rest yourself. not just so you don't get cucked for labor and parts cost, as the op is getting, but also so that you can learn to maintain your car yourself.
working with ones hands and fixing shit is very rewarding (emotionally, if not economically). being self-sufficient, also. and not contributing to the salaries of illegal immigrants and the profits of their employers, most of all.

You'll need a 30mm axle nut socket and half inch drive torque wrench for it, but unless you're replacing the bearing itself you won't need any special tools like a shop press (and drums are so cheap I would just recommend getting a new drum with the bearing already installed if it needed rear wheel bearings anyway). When you take off the axle nut, the drum just slides right off the spindle and the wheel bearing comes with it.
