My Indy was going to charge me $1200 for a job I did in 30 mins for $100.
These guys are getting out of hand. It’s completely dishonest. I asked why it was $1200 and they told me the whole bumper had to come off. It was not true.
These people are truly scum.

Things are priced from shop manuals outlining the steps of the work. If the shop manual says the bumper comes off, they price it with the bumper coming off. Unless they've done that same job on that same car before, it's really the only way for an auto shop to quote a price before doing the work.

No, things are priced because managers are greedy, labor is $300 an hour and you know damn well the tech isn't getting even a fraction of that

This is why I take pride in my 90s shitbox that I do all of my own maintenance on. Never paid for a single billed shop hour.
