You want to be able to maintain as much speed as possible, which means trying to carry speed through corners, which means more grip, which downforce helps with. I only put a factory spoiler on my trunk, at a slightly modified position and angle, because I did some underbody work to extend the panel coverage and do some tire air deflection. So the spoiler matched the air effects and balanced the front and rear lift/drag and cD factor.
