Where can I find (mini) fuses that are wired to be run to some sort of switch? Maybe with leads to solder onto.

My daytime running lights (pointless waste of gas) are on their own circuit, so I pulled the fuse. I'd like it to be toggleable with some sort of switch though.

That does sound kinda useful, I wish I had a switch on fuse #15 in my car so I can work on wiring with a door open and not have all of the interior lights be on the entire time

arent these sold at typical retail auto stores?

nvm re-read OP. sounds like what you need is a mini fuse socket connector, pic related. you can then get an inline switch and if it has wires included, crimp a female terminal on each wire then stick that into the connector.
if the fuse socket is located inside a fuse box and there's not enough clearance for this (or in a remote place like the engine bay) then see if you can release the terminals from the socket on the back side of the box so you can reroute the wiring or add wiring to route it to an easy to reach spot

oh and add an inline fuse socket too.

You don't, you put a switch before or after the fuse on the wire itself.

How much gas do you think drl's pull? I believe you are overthinking this but what your looking for is below. Do yourself a favor and solder it instead of crimping.

i dont see how solder is better than crimping unless you want an easy (or easier) way to reverse this mod

The crimps it comes with is dogshit imo. Mine came lose. I also like soldering wire using heatshrink that has adhesive built in. Its satisfying to do and has never failed me.

crimping > soldering
solder can get destroyed in high heat, crimping just werks if you arent retarded and do it right

Maybe if your car was on fire

Most crimps are shit and most people dont have the proper tools. If you have good crimping stuff its no problem but most dont. Give me a soldered and heatshrunk wire over autozone or cheap china shit crimps smashed with cheap combo wire stripers everyday of the week.

fair enough. but worth noting that in aviation i dont think i've ever seen anything call for soldering, it's always been crimping

the bigger issue is solder fails from vibrations which is why crimping is used

pbsn melts at 180C, if you see that anywhere other than your exhaust, turbo, or combustion chamber you have much bigger problems lol

>>28454522
this is mostly true but alternatively you can git gud. every control module in your car still uses hundreds if not thousands of soldered joints.

those are soldered to a PCB though. and that is firmly bolted to a housing so the actual soldered connections themselves don't experience movement

First you’re a retard for thinking DRLs use any noticeable amount of gas.
Second you’re a retard because you can just put a switch pretty much anywhere on the circuit. There’s no need for it to be part of or near the fuse.

1) You're a retard for thinking DRL have no compounding effect
2) You're a retard for baselessly assuming I'm unaware or unable to cut and solder/crimp a wire

3) You're a retard for baselessly assuming my motivation to do it via the fuse isn't because the fuse area is located right where I would want a switch

4) You're a retard for coming in like some fuckin' prick and talking shit about me for no reason

5) You're a retarded animal for acting like you're part of the "in group" here and behaving like a shithead to fit in

6) There's no need for you to tell me there's no need for it to be near or part of the fuse, unless you're retarded and have no theory of mind, and therefore can't think any further than your own retarded perspective

7) You're a retard and should get the fuck out of my thread and seek attention elsewhere

8) You do not "fit in", you are a clo0ne without an original. You're a fucking retard and your shit for brains type has ruined 4chan and the internet in general

9) GET THEFUCK OUT

10) Thanks

the point is that if you properly fasten and strain relief your harness your solder joints should last forever. they use them all over aircraft too btw. solder is fine if you know what you're doing. I pretty much only use solder on my car because a good station costs significantly less than a good crimper plus consumables.

that's true, i forgot about consumables because i can get those for free through work. i forgot just how much stuff i've done to my car solely because it was so convenient and free to get the bits and pieces for it through work...
