Take it out or leave it in? I've never seen a nail like this before.

Fuck turned out to be a pretty good sized nail. Sprayed some soapy water on it and no bubbles that i can see. Should be ok right? It's a miata so the fastest i can realistically go is 160km/hr.

i have no idea what scale that fob is.
it might not have fully penetrated
keep monitoring the air pressure, if it doesnt drop, you're fine.
do mark your tire where that nail went or you'll never find it again

Definitely take it out. You can probably patch it yourself with a patch kit and not have an issue.

It's a nail for a nail gun.
They come in long strips like glued together to put into the magazine.

The nail is just over 5/8", based on the insertion I'd guess it went in about 9/16" and at an angle to the tread. Tires are fairly new, about 2.5k km on them with some wear because RWD tire.

its in a very easily repairable spot for a plug. i hand my mechanic a $20 CAD note and he plugs it for me
just plug it and then consider looking for deals on new tires, dont run it until it gets worse like an idiot unless you carry a spare and trust your TPMS ....

WTF it's not a sidewall puncture - you leave it in until you get to a tire shop and they patch it.
