>>28454409>ultra cleanGood luck with that. Many of the "ultra clean" japanese imports you see look awesome in pictures but have a bunch of rust hidden underneath, and they often arrive with new damage after being shipped across the ocean. If you get in with the jay dee em import crowd you'll quickly see it happen to people. Never buy a car you can't go see yourself unless you have someone you can trust to look at it for you, especially imports.
>dude I got an awesome deal look at this car it's so clean >shows up with a bunch of hidden rust and some new dents and scratches from handling during the import process>>28453771I remember that one. It was a modified, high mileage car that needed quite a bit of paint work (look at the picture of the hatch, the peeling/chipping around the wheel wells, and the paint match job of the 99+ bumper). At the time FDs were just becoming collector cars and CYM wasn't so memed. That was a reasonable price. Keep in mind that we've had real inflation of around 30% since 2019 so that 17k would be mid 20s today, add to that the fact that FDs have increased in value on top of inflation. If that same listing were posted today, the few small, low resolution photos would really hurt the results because even though CYM cars are rare and people want them now, everyone knows a quality repaint is $10k+.
