Help me buy a car from a retarded bitch on FB marketplace. Long story short, found one of my attainable dream cars on Facebook marketplace. Seller is advertising it for a good price. Car looks clean, less than 100k miles, less than $5k asking price. Sellers says she doesn't want to sell, but she needs the money.

I message the seller, we go back and forth, and every time I ask her when I can come look at the car, including detailing which days I work and which days I have off, she ghosts me. I have Tuesdays through Thursdays off work. I messaged her last Sunday and told her this, and asked which of those days would work for her for me to come see the vehicle. FB messenger indicated that she read my message within a couple of hours of sending it to her.

She then replies to me on Thursday evening asking "Was you still wanting to check out the car?"

I reply immediately, within 15 minutes, and tell her that Yes I am, and then I ask when is a good time for her. She read my message within an hour, and yet, 12 hours later, still has not replied to me.

I'm going insane, I feel like this is karma for messaging so many ppl on FB marketplace over the years without ever actually buying something

It's a late model x308 Jaguar xj8 vanden plas. It looks great. The seller is clearly some kind of zoomer woman. My guess is that the car was her dad's or her grandpa's that she inherited. From browsing her profile, it appears she had a child with a black dude earlier this year. Unclear if he is still in the picture. Regardless, I want to save this car from her, and from what I know, I might even be able to get it for less than the asking price, which is already low. But even if I didn't, she's still offering it for a good deal.

I don't know if she's bad a replying because she's getting tons of messages or if she's just stoned/busy all the time. I know how zoomettes can be and I don't want to say the wrong thing to have her shut down, but I really do want to speed the process up.

What's worse is that she seems live in a farther flung suburb, likely a 45 min to an hour drive away, and I work a night shift, so going before or after work would be difficult. Still, I'd be willing to check it out in the morning before work IF SHE WOULD JUST RESPOND TO ME WITH WHAT TIMES WORK FOR HER!!

Well, she's only asking $4,000. And she says in the post that she needs the money. So I figure I can get it for $3k or $3,500. I noticed in her post that it has a sagging headliner, but I know that's common in those old jags.

My research has led me to believe that the x308 is one of the more reliable and affordable jaguars to own because Ford streamlined production at the time and standardized a lot of processes. It's a late model x308, so it already has the metal timing chain tensioners instead of the earlier plastic ones that are prone to breaking. Plus, it's just the regular powertrain, not the supercharged XJR. I thought about getting an XJR, but everything I read said that the maintenance on those and parts availability was significantly worse than a regular XJ8.

Judging from the photos and mileage, I'm confident that I'll be able to afford it, but if not, I'm not worried about losing money if I go to sell it in a year.

Idk what you're talking about with the tires, I type in the make and model on tire search sites and all the tires are between $80 on the low end and $250 on the high end. They are older cars with 16 or 17 inch wheels, not exactly hard to find tires for that

I'm 6'2" and not that fat, but I've driven Ford panther platform vehicles for the past 17 or 18 years of my life. I want something different, but every sedan I get into feels smaller. The only sedans that are actually smaller than a Crown Vic or Town Car but that feels just as roomy on the inside are the Lexus LS models. I might get one, but I think they're overpriced now, and I think they look somewhat boring.

I just want a sedan that is equally as comfy as my Grand Marquis but with better performance and handling. Why is that so hard to find?

since this thread somehow hasn't archived I'll provide an update. Was going to meet up yesterday, but she texted me about how so many people have come over to look at it but have just "bd's her" and how she really needs to sell it for bills. She reduced the price on marketplace to 3800.

I told her I could go check it out last night but would not be able to buy it then and there as I didn't have time to hit the bank, and she wanted cash, and also I'd want someone to come with me to drive my car back etc.

She said okay but then told me to hit her up "when I'm ready to buy it" ... as if I wouldn't need to inspect it irl first.

I figure I might wait another week until my next day off next Tues-Thurs and perhaps she will reduce the price more. If it checks out I think it'd def be worth 3500 but maybe I could get it for 3k or less. That being said, lately I'm thinking I want to get a fast looking coupe, the Jag vanden plas models are nice but they are kind of an old man car

Regardless, I can walk to work, so I don't need my car for commuting purposes. That's why I'm not worried about getting a slightly less reliable enthusiast vehicle. If I absolutely needed a car to commute 10 or 20 miles or more to work every day I'd probably get some fuel efficient cuckbox but that's not a requirement for me. I need something to drive 10 miles to my parents house once a week and to the grocery store once a week. Other than that I'll drive to the bar or my friend's house sometime

I'm not idolizing cylinder count. I've driven cars with a variety of cylinders. My first car was a Buick LeSabre with a V6. Since then I've largely driven panther platforms with V8s. My parents have a hybrid Ford escape that has a 3-cylinder motor.

The Escape Hybrid is about as fast as my Grand Marquis. Honestly it might even be slightly faster. I don't care, I would still rather drive my panther v8. If that makes me a retard so be it
