Is the Miata special yet, or is it still doomed to always be an economy car that happens to be lightweight and RWD?

Lightweight cheap rwd is an increasing rarity in 2025.

>Is the Miata special yet
The miata was always special you fag. Name another affordable lightweight RWD sports car that has been consistently available for the past 30+ years and isn't a poorly made piece of shit like a TVR or some other british junk, or an unreliable italian turd.

I never knew it was an economy car. It's packaged pretty poorly and offers pretty poor comfort, space, and MPG for what it is as an "economy car", then.
I also saw hundreds of new Corollas everywhere today in a few hours driving but not a single Miata, new or old. They're rare '''sports cars''' even when new in my experience.
Unrelated but I did see a brand new 4-door Jeep flying a pride flag today, brown/black colors and all. Seriously wish I got a pic of that.

You'll certainly find a clean NA/NB for the next 10-20 years. More than they used to be sure but still attainable for most.

Understand that a lot of "rare" cars are only going for about 40k. That's not much.

It was always special, it was just so good at what it tried to do, it blew up in popularity, so coolness died down. Which was good, it kept prices low for 10-20 years.
It's like if a bunch of women bought BRZs, you suddenly wouldn't want one.
Very rarely do you have a car with a success story like the NA.
And you probably won't ever see anything like it again. Cars are appliances now and it shows.

Economy car is selling it short, they were quite a bit more than your average CRX or whatever of the same vintage. Still affordable but hardly cheap.

Wouldn't really agree.
>economy motor
It's perfectly fine and rev happy, much more so than your average economy car in 1990.
boost it and make 200hp in a 2200 pound car
>econ car interior
i somewhat understand this sentiment, but it's still wonderfully designed.
>economy car suspension
people knock porsches for using mcpherson struts and now people knock miatas for double wishbones? this is wild.
>economy car looks
rear end perhaps but the front end is delightful.

I suppose by traditional metrics you could consider it an economy car, but it's really not.

From LA to Bay Area lol. Just didn't change speeds much, drove at night, I use 91 though. Had full trunk and a passenger. I calculated it as 31mpg but I'm pretty sure in regular daily highway use it's under 30mpg. Isn't much different than a corolla of similar years. had a 2004 shitbox corolla get worse, and a 92 wrangler get lol13-15mpg.
