a) 10 year old beck arnley that has been sitting in the garage in a unsealed bag, made in japan, still soft and fluffy

2) mexican felpro brand new

3) chinkshit brand new

i have all 3, im leaning towards mexico but i cant support them after what they have done in california.

also which rtv should i use, gray or black? leaning towards gray because its closer to white and im extremely racist but appraently the black stuff seals the best.

That's gray, the only advantage black has is that it stays flexible.

Use the new Fel-Pro seal. The old Beck/Arnley is too old, and the off-brand Chinese one isn't worth the risk. For RTV, go with black it's best for oil sealing around rear mains.

The seal is as good as new unless it was in the sun.
Black rtv is the best for oil resistance, I assume you are sealing the pan? If you can afford it, use urethane hybrid rtv (hondabond, Toyota fipg, right stuff) it is god tier and blows all the conventional rtv types of of the water

I make sure to only wrench on cars built by respectable manufacturers who would use no less than 8 bolts on the crankshaft of an engine like that.

7M-GE. Yep, one is definitely offset. Probably balancing reasons or something, i dunno. The 1G engine had no offset/index hole, pic related

Did you really swap a 1g for a 7mge? Did you at least replace the head gasket before you dropped it in?

but i liked it...aside from the head gasket of course. i liked that the water pump was separate from the timing belt. Meant that I could just change it right there even though I wouldn't have to for a looong time. Also like how it sounded really deep, although that could also be due to the exhaust design. But honestly I really do like the engine, it never gave me any trouble during the time I hooned it besides just being thirstier on oil, well duh because I kept revving it to 6000 rpm lul.
>>28459498
No, I just stole that photo from a drive2.ru post because I couldn't find any decent images of the back of a 1G engine. I did the head gasket though, head needed to be straightened but the block was fine.
