Does anyone actually buy this crap? If you've got that kind of money to spend on a car why on earth would you ever spend it on a porsche sedan

People buy them. It's mostly guys who want to fit in with all the other Porsche faggots at the country club who's wives won't let them buy a 911.

don't be retarded
people want useable vehicle and 99% of buyers don't care about benchracing or buying the 'optimum' car

if you are really interested, look up the urus profit margin
recently reported the bentayga and urus make up ~30-40% of the operating profit for the entire volkswage/audi group
these cars sell well, and make huge profits for their manufacturers which creates a feedback loop of investment

Did you even open your own link? Panamera is apparently the worse selling model in the lineup.

REAL MEN (europeans) need the cars first. 100s of GT3/rs daily on the nordschleife.

well, anon, imagine that you're shopping for a large luxury sedan, but you don't just want the luxury part, tho you definitely want it too, you also want it to be fun to drive.

and i don't mean just haul ass in straight line, they all do, even a tesla, but like actually good driving dynamics.
but the s63 is too shit, way too compromised in both directions. and the i7-7series looks like shit, so that's out immediately. and the a8 is, and looks, about as boring as any other audi (except the r8). oh, and the lexus ls doesn't even have a sporty/fun version, its just straight luxobarge through and through.

then here comes porsche, and they give you something that actually drives extremely well, is built to a standard that only bentley/RR can surpass, can actually carry 4 adults + luggage in great comfort, and also drives like a porsche should in the twisties.

its not exactly rocket science.

Listen I’m not shitting on you but you’re obviously poor and don’t understand how wealthy people make purchases, it’s okay I’m not insulting you I’m just stating objective reality. You think 195k pounds is expensive, but to the purchaser of an exclusive edition car, this is maybe a week or two of earnings at most and not really on their radar or cost. Basically they wanted a vehicle, the guy at the dealership said “we got this and it’s a great sedan” and they bought it. On the scale of shit that wealthy people buy, this isn’t even a blip. Check out boat and jet prices to get an idea.
But with cars there’s an ass for every seat and some of these things depreciate quickly and become accessible to a wider range of incomes that want to act like they’re baller. But you want to buy a car from the first owner and not the bhph lot.

lmao they're not, a few client dealers I work with can't move any of the fuckers now that the initial rush is gone. They're all turning into service loaners

I would buy up shitboxes all day and do complete teardowns to the bare frame, with non-stop recording during the entire process and capturing every swear word i'm muttering or screaming to myself. then i will scan it with one of those big laser scanning machines and upload a highly detailed model of it to beam NG, before restoring it with fresh parts and then throwing it around the burger ring on a hot lap to see what time it'll get. then i'll sell it for peanuts to some high school kid or someone who wants a cheap shitbox with a special /o/tist discount if you reveal your power level or /o/tism. I will continue to do this until I am solely responsible for 95% of all the autistically accurate vehicle physics and damage models on beam NG modding sites.
