People who take an HPDE course should be exempt from speeding and reckless driving laws. If feds and the police are allowed to after taking one, then so should everyone else.
Took some courses at Bondurant (when it existed), what I little I remember- "Give the other driver enough room to fuck up so it doesn't involve you" and "it does not matter how quickly you get there, if you wreck out on the way to the finish". Oh, and "good tires and brakes will likely save your ass when you inevitably run out of skill".
>>28459436 (OP) >People who take an HPDE course >an Guys who do a single babby's first trackday and now think they're king shit of driving are usually the LAST guys you want to be exempt from reckless laws. You should be required to have a significant amount of real track time (if you have to do point-bys it's not real track time) before being allowed to speed with impunity.
>>28459436 (OP) Anon, a smooth track without traffic is a lot different than a bumpy ass road. I never feel comfortable pushing on public roads. All it takes is some leaves or a oil spill to send my car off the road.
>>28460558 How do you like the Ridge? I've only been to Pacific Raceways for a GR HPDE and had a lot of fun, but I was absolute dogshit still learning manual. That was well over a year ago now, but I'd like to get out again sometime over this summer.
>>28461424 I like Pacific raceways, but The Ridge is on a whole other level. It's a better track by a mile. I'll be in Shelton this Wednesday for one of the SCCA track nights Hard to beat the $180 ticket cost.
>>28463743 speak up please, i can't hear you very well from my rearview mirror

>>28462705 I like Pacific slightly better personally but it's because those two high speed banked sweepers are really fun in my car and one of the only times I feel like the wings are doing anything other than creating drag lmao.
>>28459436 (OP) No, what we need are one way roads out in the middle of nowhere that require an HPDE certification and basic safety equipment. Full liscence suspension if caught breaking either of these but anything else goes. Construction and maintenance would be funded by an opt in yearly tax. It would be like downhill mtn bike trails for cars.

>>28464202 It has one really fast corner, T1. If you have balls you can keep your foot in it and that is probably the most fun corner of the track.
>>28464832 Ah, I don't have enough power and have way too much grip for 9 and 10 to be particularly dramatic.

>>28460558 the fact that you understand this is proof of OP's point. although I have to agree with >>28460519>>28463993 that you need to have way more seat time to pass the initial period of overconfidence and realize that you're not as good as you think you are. one course is not enough to take most noob drivers' ego down a notch, they think even going to one makes them a race car driver.
