An elderly friend of mine wants to sell his and isn't sure what's the max he can get for it. It has 135k Miles, it has a canopy, well maintained. Overall the truck looks in great shape given the year. I did some research and it seems the 6.0 isn't well liked in the diesel line-up. Pic is exactly what he has but not the actual truck.

Easily 10k in my market, assuming
>Stock
>4wd
>Rust free

If it's been maintained and someone did o-rings/upgraded nylon bushings/seals 10k is probably on the lower end of max imo.

Even if it's bone stock and maticioulously maintained you're still taking a gamble. WHEN the engine pops you're basically going to have to choose between dropping $10k+ and polishing that turd aka bulletproofing it or Cummins swapping it. Both outcomes are going to require a lot of time and effort so you better decide if you really want to get into a diesel.

>6.0
It's not a question of if, it's a question of when the engine blows up. Even Bulletproofed it's not worth dealing with all the other 20 year old shit breaking on the engine. If you're going for an old diesel you might as well pay more for a Cummins or 7.3

The only people that buy 6.0s are in it for the show and the sound. It makes arguably the most power behind the modern 6.7, but its reliability is in the toilet next to the 6.4. The only Ford diesels you should buy are 6.9idi, 7.3idi, 7.3ps, 7.3ps+intercooler and the 6.7. If it's clean just accept whatever seemingly high offer you get and don't hem and haw about it. You're trying to sell the worst reputation diesel to some kid or uninitiated.

You only get the max by doing a part-out on ebay.

if its bone stock its worth more, 6.0 is pretty good when left stock

Sure. My neighbor has a 6.7 only for hauling his camper to and from the hunting grounds. Very specifically keeps it quiet. Not a loud vehicle stock.
