but this thread rises a question: when did Italian cars start being considered unreliable? Until the '80s they were usually praised and considered as reliable as any other similar brand. I guess this idea of rust buckets started with the Lancia Beta in the UK, and spreaded from there to the US (not always with a reality check

TL;dr are Italian cars really that unreliable?
