EVs in general are government funded, Chinese EVs are largely Chinese, euro EVs are largely Euro, and US EVs are largely US. EV cars are just political tools

Good. Fuck the car industry. They wanted to preserve the ICE status quo for too long.

That doesn't explain it. Why don't the other auto companies just go and grab the same subsidies? The subsidies have Tesla written in them, any company can get them.

they did/do
if you actually care to look, tesla gets the majority of subsidies from states by building manufacturing and receiving tax breaks on that property
the one federal subsidy they received was in the form a DoE loan with (which was repaid), of which ford got over 10x the amount and nissan got ~3x what tesla got
I believe all the car manufacturer loans were 0%, but the government didn't lose money on them (except for 500mill to fisker)

people also confuse the huge amount of loans that the wider umbrella of the tesla parent company got for all the solar shit
if ford sold solar panels they would have jumped on that too

Why dont they build their factories in America and make cars in America as well? Or maybe Mexico and Canada were offering better subsidies for those companies to build their factory there

they have?
mexico and canada can offer subsidies, but not having to pay UAW workers with USD is a pretty big incentive
the average annual wage in mexico is ~20k so it's kinda hard to beat

All the UAW plants gets billions each year in subsidies from the government though. US Gov directly purchases fleets of vehicles from the big union shops each year as well.

Because we have access to nearly slave labor costs in neighboring Mexico, and Dodge jewed Ford long ago.
I grant that Elon was forward-thinking in keeping plants in the US, but I'm not buying a Tesla until there are no ice options that are cheaper.

TRVKE, and that's honestly all there is to the story. When taxpayer dollars prop up an entire industry it doesnt need globalism to compete and save costs.

huh?
https://www.jalopnik.com/gm-factory-workers-in-mexico-get-a-25-cent-raise-to-3-1848932879/
according to the first search result they make ~3.25 USD an hour
thats ~61 pesos an hour, or 488 a day
minimum wage from what I can tell is 278 an hour

so GM factory workers in mexico make twice their minimum wage
that's slavery?
