No. If you think cars are "too big", go back to plebbit.

I don't like how emissions BS has promoted big cars, so generally I'd say yes. But IMO it's less about how many big cars there are and more about the disappearance of affordable lightweight fun / sports cars. Everything is a cross over / big truck / big SUV. Give me a small, affordable, lightweight 2 seater than can zip around. Also this picture has some perspective tricks going on

I kinda like that there is a category of Full Size SUVs in US for those wanting and needing. Not like an average American drives with anything larger than a RAV4 or so.

t Euro occasionally on US for work

These were around everywhere in 90s and they do not sell enough to warrant existence.

No. It's not possible that the rise of SUVs was entirely a reflection of the free market. Americans want to buy small economically friendly cars but they're not able to because the government is pushing an agenda that forces car makers to make SUVs. Ignore the fact that both form factor coexisted for decades and you can see the steady decline in sales of small cars that predate any government regulations. Also ignore the fact that it doesn't make sense for the government to want people to buy SUVs because it doesn't really benefit them in any way.

They couldn't pack as many quirks and features as Doug likes without making the cars bigger

i know you're being sarcastic but cafe regs mean that manufacturers get penalised less by making vehicles that fall into the light truck category than continuing to make passenger cars

I'm not being sarcastic at all. The government is owned by Big SUV. It's the SUV lobbyists bribing officials to make the regulations to kill cars.

Not really. Things just naturally get bigger over time, Humans included. Be a modern non-manlet and try walking around in a house from the early 1900's. I'm okay with cars being big on the outside as long as they're big on the interior as well. It's the huge exterior size and slave ship quarter interiors that I don't like. These days the only way to escape that is to go with a half ton or larger truck or a real SUV. Those are huge on the outside but they also have massive and spacious interiors.
