Anyone else not ok with spending 100k on a car, or even 40k?

I do OK(100k+), have Ok investments but I dont think I will ever be able to stomach these prices.

I'm not even sure who is?

I'd much rather a 10k car with 10-20k in upgrades

I enjoyed my shitboxes for many years when I was a broke student, although now I am a lot older and have much cooler toys. I think if someone can't enjoy their time in a fun cheap car then they're not really an auto enthusiast. Still you can't take money or cars with you to the grave, dying without ever experiencing a top end machine would be a great shame.

I struggle with mid-range purchases generally. A low-end purchase is kind of whatever, and a high-end purchase is justifiable for quality, but the mid-range is where I struggle to judge value.

People generally were willing to put down 25% of their income in car and related costs in 80s.

Can't take memories or experiences with you, either

Yeah but the issue is what do you with your money if you're autistic about cars?

Yes. I make >500K a year and refuse to buy anything beyond average-priced cars (average new car is ~$48gay USDicks).

I ignore 99% of car reviews because I don't care about luxury/status vehicles or $5,000 piano black trim upgrades.

Most cars on dealer lots are filled with stupid options. Just give me motor + chassis I can swing on the street, at a low price so I don't feel bad when I crash (or when uninsured illegal/texting teen crashes into me).

I own three cars and 1 motorcycle. The most i spent on a vehicle was 20k or so. Cheapest vehicle i currently own is a 4k miata. 100k+ for a car is autismal

There is literally no reason for Chevy express vans to cost as much as they do. They are just a box on wheels and haven't been changed since God knows when.

Work cars and fleet cars are now overpriced so that they can be used as business write-offs

That’s retarded and not how tax write offs work. Tax write offs reduce your taxable income, they don’t reduce your tax bill by the amount you spent. So that’s like buying more expensive shit so that you get more rewards points on your credit card.

Toss some seats out of an old Caddy in them Express vans and they're fine. The stock seats are terrible, I'd say even worse than Sprinter seats even

I spent about 7.8 K cash on a car about 8 years ago, maybe about 3.5K on maintenance since. I know for a fact I got an insane bargain. If only insurance could be got that way.

15k is my absolute max. A car is a tool meant to get you from A to B, nothing more.
