There's more to a car than just the engine. The WRX has AWD and a manual, which is pretty rare!

Actual leather instead of pleather/sensatec, better ergonomics, better steering, better suspension, better acceleration, parts commonality with jeeps, carbon driveshaft, optional geared lsd, lighter weight, doesn't look like a 3 series. BMW relies on being the default choice for people who want a nicer car than their previous Corolla/Malibu, not on engineering

The VA was a great value because it started around 26k. The VB starts at over 37k now.
Thats more than the price of a 2020 STi when new, and they don't even give you the better transmission or diffs.

In five years the base price increased over 10,000$

>What makes the giulia 2.0t better than 330i 2.0t?
I owned a Giulia Ti and a G42 230i before buying my WRX
The steering in the 230i is unironically atrocious, I thought I would get used to it but it's so light and vague on center it felt like driving a truck
The seats look nice but sensatec is basically just fancy vinyl and it really sucks in the summer time. The Giulia had real leather and a good seating position that was both low and upright while I never felt comfortable in the bimmer and my back would start to hurt after like 20 minutes behind the wheel
Since the 230i wasn't actually comfy (the main reason I bought it) I jumped ship to the WRX after only a few months

Nothing stopping you from going to the Subaru website and looking the prices. They cut the base model and now it starts at Premium, meaning that Premium is now the new Base and it starts at 37,750$ a TS is 47,705$

An STi came with much more hardware than a TS does yet the TS costs more even with inflation.

The sports car market is mostly dead but where I live VBs are rotting on lots with discounts up to 4k off while the VAs would sell through within a week or two.

>Don't tell me your income hasnt increased since the time the VA existed lmao...
>The prices of everything else also increased, and so did the incomes of hard working high IQ people
When I got my 2020 WRX it was because my 2019 WRX blew its engine around 5k miles and the dealer bought it back with a discount on a 2020. Around that time credible rumors about the next gen WRX were already circulating so my plan was to get a regular WRX and later trade it in for a VB STi. But the STi didn't happen (or has yet to) and the VA failed to impress me long-term.

Anyways average household income increased ~10% from 2020-2024 but the WRX price increased by ~22% in the same time for the base model. And then they cut the base model.
The top spec non-STi WRX was 32,995$ in 2020 and now its 47,705$ meme status or not. That's a 30% increase.

Here's to the young brown fella in McKinney, Texas driving this car with the most audacious exhaust system I've ever seen. Quad exhaust tips, looked like race car shit back there. Thought, holy fuck, what is this? I admit, it did "look" impressive. You were coming off University Blvd turning south onto 75. I'm the BMW that blew your doors off heading to the on ramp. I passed you and you stared at me, why? Why did super supreme race car with massive quad tip exhaust let me do this? You spent a lot of money, why am I passing you? I know, you saw the halos and roundel and got the fuck over. Good move. Sucks to be you.

The WRX transmission shifts fine when you have a stiffer pitch stop and transmission mount (<200$ of parts)
It's not as tough as the STI trans but it can handle bolt-ons and a non-ethanol tune
That's like 100 HP more than a tuned Civic Si that will be having clutch issues

Does anyone have a guess for how many years this generation has left, realistically?
VA WRX was 2015-2021, so 7 years
So if the VB lasts the same amount of time, it will be 2022-2028?
I don't NEED a new car right now but I might have FOMO if I don't pick one up by the time these are inevitably discontinued.

>garbage suspension
>garbage interior
>engine strained to its limit and more difficult to work on than necessary
>have to open up the motor to get significantly more power
>disappointing steering
Compare that to a base AWD giulia
>better interior layout and materials
>just as good AWD
>better weight distribution
>better suspension
>better steering
>i4 is easy to work on, but you don't even need to work on it for more power
>internals are seriously over engineered for the power they make from factory, bolt on kits available for 400hp
>happily takes 30psi boost with nothing but a piggyback

>can only fit amputees in back seats in julia
I made this thread about 4 door cars because of practicality, not just having 4 doors stuck on a coupe basically.

lol no
the FA24 is undertuned from the factory and will make power easier on the stock turbo that the Giulia
a turbo upgrade puts either car in 400hp territory (there are plug and play options for both cars)
>disappointing steering
it's not as good as the Giulia but it gets the job done
the Giulia is a great car but no manual option and weak aftermarket support really lets it down
going through Alfissimo or ordering stuff from Europe gets old pretty fast

A WRX in '03 was $25k+. Why would they price a FWD more than it? That would defeat the whole point of offering a cheap and powerful FWD. It's also common knowledge that those SRT's dyno'd at a lot more than they were rated for.

Who the fuck wants to run E85 to make 400hp? That alone tells you that you got a hopeless tuning platform.

you have no tools dude, you really shouldnt comment on anything engine or suspension related. when you see threads pop up about infotainment and custom LED mood lighting feel free to comment but when engines, drivetrains and engine management is being discussed you should just log off. theres no point.

The FA24 is literally used in the subaru ascent and outback which have high tow ratings, its capable of a lot more torque than its tuned for
