Anonymous No.28469267 [Report]
yes

If you're asking this question you likely don't offroad enough, or at least not in areas that require them, to need mud tires.

go get them! you will be the queen of the mall parkinglot!

Does your suv need mud tires?

>no other information, how much on/off road driving OP is doing, amount of rain OP's area gets etc
Quality all-terrain tires and a 12v inflator will get you farther than you think you need to go.

Do you like how loud they are on pavement?

WRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

don't forget fuel economy and making your tranny overheat, if they don't also rub

>making your tranny overheat

Not him, but would a quality transmission cooler alleviate that scenario or should you just not run mud tires?

mud tires on the interstate is probably the equivelant of having 1500lbs in tow. only so much fluid circulates in the cooler, pretty typical of chryslers to overheat, and the 4l60 also does not circulate to the cooler in overdrive

Thank you! I just wanted some fun tires for what light (only a few inches of snow) that I get but will look at Goodyear Wrangler A/T in 195/75r14 instead which is close to the stock 195/70r14 for my car.

I had no idea that mud tires in a crazy size would be like towing 1500 lbs AND overheat the transmission.

If you want horrible road performance, horrendous noise, worse fuel economy, and more stress on your cars driveline, go for it

not to mention raising unsprung weight means springs take longer to rebound your wheel back into contact with the ground after hitting a bump, lowering traction when cornering. If you're just after looks, the ko2 or 3 and the falken wildpeaks have decent sidewall lugs without being too much heavier than a plain road tire.

a lot of the "commercial" all terrains dont have a lunky tread but are starting to get aggressive sidewall designs, but he stated he has 195/75r14 so his options are probably pretty limited

They make tires for office wagies that want le heckin mean tires but are actually quiet and efficient on pavement. Just look any jeep in your nearest parking lot. I'll be getting some for my shart barge because fuck mud terrains. I got minexused for nothing but they have been pure misery to listen to on the road. Fortunately it's time for new ones and the suffering can end.

Extremely limited! Only Goodyear makes one in that size and I want to keep using the 14 inch wheels. Anything larger than a 15 inch wheel (if you want to go that route) looks dumb on a vintage car.

do it bro. there's nothing like 38" TSL Radials humming down the road. You don't even need music, just roll down your windows.

So my mickey thompson mud tires that weigh less and are a bigger size than my old ko2s somehow equates to 1500lbs of extra mass?
>4L60 does not circulate to the cooler in overdive
Oh, you’re just retarded. Got it.

4L60-E with mud tires reporting in. Done 100+ MPH on these on multiple occasions. Transmission did not explode.

You don't have a trans temp gauge, and both the truck and its engine are pretty smol for 4L60E.
Let's wait for someone with GMT800

I'm no nerd myself, but basically their ZL tire series has a history of usage in meme motorsport events, can be found on heavy machinery and meme military vehicles. It's basically the cool knobby tire real big boys use.
