Europoor here. I recently bought one of these 'strayan engines (non-turbo).
Which car should I swap it into?

I'd imagine it would fit into some Mercs, BMWs and Jags at least.

They aren't exactly unobtainable here anymore like they were in the past.

There's no such thing as a non-turbo barra, there are just barra's that don't have a turbo yet

If I was to buy an engine then i'd either have a plan for it or it's something stupid like an aeroengine. That sort of powerplant needs a car designed around it more than a mere swap.

Who thought that would be an economically viable venture?
still cool, rare yet surprisingly cheap car to grab last time I checked.

Not a bad idea. I'll consider it if I find a decent one.

Sierra would be nice, but my concern with those is that the engine bay is not particularly long. Might need to cut the firewall.

Some kind of 80s Merc SEL. It's extremely smooth and torquey.

In Australia the 80's Cortina had the older version of it, that car looks very similar to your Ford Granada. The 70's Cortina had it too. Maybe one of those old Saloons that were saddled with a 4 banger like an SD1 or a P6. It would work well in something like a Land Rover but seem like a waste to import an engine just to have another SUV.

I've seen it done, too long and its right against the radiator. The power curve doesn't work well with the diff ratios either. Mercedes and BMW engines are also pretty good as it is.

>>28470532
If its a 4 cylinder one, the 6 cylinder one would not be that much better.

Cortina Mk3 springs to mind. They came with a 4.1 straight six in Oz. Seen English enthusiasts find LHD ones in Portugal. Also old Jags.

1.3 petrol was normal in the UK. I think 2.0 was proper posh at the time. GLX and all that.
