How did /o/ react to this? Are the Koreans what the Germans were in the 90's?

no it doesn't because the other brands started being good before i was born. things that happened before i existed don't matter. hyundai is the only one who i personally remember being bad so therefore they can only be bad forever. the ones who used to be bad but became good before i was born likewise can only be good forever no matter how shitty their current products are.

Entirely irrelevant award at this point, but comparing what they used to give awards to when they started compared to now is just grim. The Koreans have poached many Germans from those brands too over the years FWIW, you've got Germans (or people that worked for them) working in the performance divisions and even as designers for Hyundai/Kia now.

And yet they are absolute shit. Maybe that's why those "totally german" "people" were looking for a new job? Because their designs lead to fire related recalls? Way to go, lower korea.

EV3 is more practical, longer warranty, has actual Android/Apple auto AND still costs $10000 less than the lower ranged Model 3. Also smaller tires so replacement is cheaper.

The EV3 is the cheaper, more practical EV to own while giving you greater range and 800V charging (Tesla charges quickly too though).

>EV3 is more practical
its not. it has less cargo space and is a whole segment smaller. b-segment cuv vs c-segment sedan

>longer warranty
they're EVs, the fuck you need a warranty for.

>has actual Android/Apple auto
so? tesla has the best infotainment in the business. its so good, that literally every reviewer is like "yea, it doesn't have AA/carplay, but it doesn't need them"
remember, the only reason that AA/carplay are a thing is because every other car company can't into software.

>AND still costs $10000 less than the lower ranged Model 3
extremely no. the base model 3 is like 4-5k more than the base ev3
and ofc, the model 3 also has a huge backlog of used examples available. the ev3 is buy new or nothing. you can get a 3-4yo model 3 awd lr for much cheaper than a new ev3.

>greater range
who cares. as long as its close to ~300miles, its enough.

>800V charging
who cares? there's like 3 charging stations per country that can do that
also, if we're talking about charging, tesla has the supercharger network, which kia can't use yet.

also, the model 3 has ~ 100hp more(comparing base trims), is rwd instead of awd, is more efficient (miles/kwhr) so you save money on electricity, it looks like a car instead of a lego, is quieter inside and it makes leftists seethe.

so, again, who the FUCK buys an ev3 instead of a model 3

>b-segment cuv vs c-segment sedan
It being SUV brings other benefits, such as higher position meaning more comfortable drives, especially for longer road trips.

>they're EVs, the fuck you need a warranty for.
Are you stupid? If anything warranties are a great shield against value depreciation. If you sell a car with an active warranty, the buyer will know there are no critical errors being hidden.

>so? tesla has the best infotainment in the business.
Don't care, let me plug in my phone. Also to extend on this, Tesla interiors are extremely ugly and soulless. Where the fuck are the physical buttons? Why is fan control hidden in the touch screen display? YOU CAN'T EVEN PUT IN REVERSE WITHOUT GOING THROUGH THE TOUCH SCREEN DISPLAY JESUS FUCK

>and ofc, the model 3 also has a huge backlog of used examples available
Ok we're in the used market territory now? Because there are a lot of EVs with way more value than Teslas out there. Older Teslas were also prone to mold infestation due to water leaks in the cabin and didn't have a proper warranty program. If you want a cheap used EV, there are way more sensible options than Tesla.

>who cares. as long as its close to ~300miles, its enough.
I agree. 300 miles is the bar to reach, above that there isn't much difference.

>who cares? there's like 3 charging stations per country that can do that
Future proofing.

>also, if we're talking about charging, tesla has the supercharger network, which kia can't use yet.

???

>so, again, who the FUCK buys an ev3 instead of a model 3
People who want more comfortable driving, less value depreciation, actual car interiors, cheaper insurance etc etc

>It being SUV brings other benefits
i will concede it probably means more comfortable rear seats. the biggest flaw in the model 3 and model s is how close the rear seats are to the floor
its obviously not a problem if you don't plan to carry adults in the rear often, but its a thing.

>warranties are a great shield against value depreciation
the fuck they are. EVs always depreciate a lot.
which is a point fpr going with a used tesla. you get to benefit from the depreciation, instead of suffer it

>let me plug in my phone
teslas do let you plug in your phone, obviously. the just don't do AA/carplay. you can make and accept calls and everything.

>Tesla interiors are extremely ugly and soulless.
rent one for a week. it grows on you.

>Where the fuck are the physical buttons?
in the dustbin of history, where they belong.

>Why is fan control hidden
because its not the 80s. the climate control isn't manual, you don't need to mess with it. just set the temp you want once and it'll do everything for you

>YOU CAN'T EVEN PUT IN REVERSE WITHOUT GOING THROUGH THE TOUCH SCREEN DISPLAY
actually, you can, there's buttons hidden under the phone charging pad
but irl you get accommodated to swiping the screen pretty quickly.

>we're in the used market territory now?
we don't have to go there, as i explained even comparing new cars the model 3 is way better value
but yes, if some1 is intent on getting the best value possible, obviously a used model 3 is the way to go.

>a lot of EVs with way more value than Teslas
no, there aren't. not unless you're willing to make serious compromises.
eg a 1st gen e-tron (basically a q8). extremely cheap despite having the interior of a 100k car. but also shit charging and sub 200miles range.

>Future proofing
???
as long as the car can do the 10-80% under 30mins, its good enough.

>charging network
only in the us, while we're discussing european prices. in the us, the model 3 is so cheap that the comparison is silly.

Hyundai warranty only suckers people once. If you're counting on the Kia warranty to be meaningful, you need to find someone as stupid as you are now when you sell.

I just don't like Tesla's minimalistic interiors with that big ass ugly iPad covering up half the space in the front seat and it lacking all the physical buttons. Other brands have returned to physical buttons and are basically standard again after a few years of being threatened by extinction. Popular demand brought them.

Also another flaw of Tesla is how ugly they are. Especially the front shot of Model 3 looks like a very weird bean-shaped like ugliness. The Model Y also looks like a blob. I'll agree though that in terms of pure EV performance / price, Tesla is king. Even if that insurance cost will kill your economy.

>I just don't like Tesla's minimalistic interiors
kindly recall that tesla started this whole trend. and the reason that it started a trend instead of being a one-off experiment (like eg the yoke, which was quickly pulled back) is because it worked so well. for how many ears where we always hearing that tesla has the most satisfied and loyal customers? that people who owned one basically swore off any other brand?

the reason we (not just us /o/tists, but all car people) are now so virulently against the whole "no buttons, just screen" thing is because every OTHER mfg tried to copy tesla AND FAILED MISERABLY. and im one of those people too, btw. i want other mfgs to go back to small screens for nav only, and physical buttons for everything else.
but it still works for tesla, just as it did on day one. because tesla actually knows how to into software and UX and HMI. everyone else just thought its as simple as sticking a tablet on the dash, and its not.

so, anyway, my advice, try it before you knock it. many people have said they don't like the tesla way only to discover how nice it is once you spend a week with it. and it is. its very nice.
rent a model 3 for a week, you'll get it.

>another flaw of Tesla is how ugly they are
im not that fond of the og model 3/y neither. i like the s/x/cbtruck just fine. and i like the refreshes, especially the Y, much more. still think the highland looks kinda funky from some angles, but at this price point, looks are not very high in the priority list, not when the overall value is so good. nobody ever bought a corolla because they thought its the prettiest thing.
