Does /o/ know anything about medium duty trucks?

I need to get a Class 6 cabover and it's a whole other market. Priorities are operational reliability (so not just does it work, but serviceability and parts availability in NYC/the northeast US) and manuverability in tight spaces.

Any recommendations?

Go down the Jap route of Fuso or Isuzu
Fuso got 30,000km (19,000 miles) service intervals.
Euro trucks will charge you out the ass for parts made in china and take years to get to you.

Of course not. That would require them to actually work and/or drive. It's not something an armchair racer would have any knowledge of.

I've driven the little midget cricket Hino and Isuzu cabovers. They're definitely nimble and maneuverable but they're terrible on the highway. Our company had a couple Canters which were the worst vehicles possible so my views on Japanese truck reliability are pretty tainted. No American manufacturers really do small cabovers aside from GM and that reliability is probably going to be a gamble.

This. There's a reason why those two are so dominant in the US.

Also yeah I was thinking a Hino or Isuzu, they seem the most common here in NYC so probably fitting my needs, but I figured I'd get more input and it seems the Hino cabovers have been discontinued from North America.

Actually I take that back, Hino 4/5s are really common, but I'm not sure they did a Class 6 cabover? FTRs and the Kenworth I posted in OP seem the most common cabovers in Class 6.

It's got a GM engine and a GM tranny. While the chassis may have some Jap in it it's mostly a GM truck.
