Symmetry autism
Does anyone else despise interiors that are driver focused? I know its sportier and more comfortable but the lack of symmetry drives me insane. It should be even no matter what

For me, it's center mounted gauges.

I don't care either way but I like the driver-focused ones. It's supposed to make you "feel" like you're in a jet cockpit, and it's a little silly, but I enjoy it.

I don't think the problem is specifically the driver focus. But today's designers and product committees can barely put together a decent functional interior as it is.
Drop the symmetry, and they'll have even more opportunities to completely fuck up the job with random layouts, angles and materials that don't serve any functional, ergonomic or aesthetic purpose. Yay, we put random sharp silvery plastic corners here, rounded stuff here, glossy stuff here, random trim here, look at our design work.
I can definitely see why some in the design industry are worried about some fuzzy matrix multiplication machine taking their job: Said job seems to already consist of slapping together random bits of thoughtless, subhuman slop.

I actually learned to like asymmetry at some point. Watching everyone constantly harp about symmetry made me realize we're kind of slaves to it, so I made an effort to not care.
Of course, some things have to be symmetrical, like much of the human body, but generally I don't care for it in aesthetics.

I also despise asymmetrical interiors, which is why I only buy cars with one seat

passenger car interiors are inherently asymmetrical so i like when they lean into the asymmetry

Then you'd hate the corvette interior
Its too anti social for me.
Id buy this car to just cruise around with le wifey, but the interior feels like an edgy teenager boyracer tryhard chud car

Why does it need such a fucking massive transmission tunnel when both the engine and transmission are both behind the driver and there is also no (mechanical) 4wd system? Is it used for the batteries of the hybrid version?

I prefer asymmetrical interiors - when it's symmetrical it looks cheap to me. Purely a cost cutting choice at the expense of design.

Well then you'll be glad to hear that the non-electrified ZR1 is still also the worlds most powerful non-electrified mass produced car in the history of the world as well.
But you'll find something else to complain about I'm sure.

Really? I'm just asking. Are all other 1200+ hp cars limited? The ZR1 is also hard to get, so isn't it effectively the same?

No, and also wabi sabi. Besides, why not go all the way and have an interior with two steering wheels, two gauge clusters and two sets of pedals? Windshield wipers are also asymmetrical usually. Many cars have only one rear fog light that is offset. And you have full window controls only on driver's side. Gas cap is on one side. Etc, etc

Yes I hate any car that does this. Hate that it's becoming normal. You can literally see our society crumbling through evidence of shit like this. Everyone isolated and self centered to the point they literally make the buttons wrap around you.

Does centre-mounting the gauges etc save money at all on the interior parts?
Did they ever? e.g. back in 1959 the Mini had them mounted in the centre too.
