If you just dump sand the heat will quite unironically melt the road and stay hot for weeks

I'm not an e-car hater.
It's just that my mind is just blown that with such a gigantic issue these vehicles were greenlit in the first place.

In a world where these things didn't get forced on us it would never have been legal to be sold until at least there's some new way of safely putting out those battery fires as quickly as with gas fires.

Partly, even though they are technically self oxidizing and when shorted self igniting. However they will burn more intensely with a source of oxygen than without. This is in addition to all the other flammable materials within the car which always require oxygen.

Bigger battery bigger fire, right? Alright well what if we brought back Land Barges and used them to hold smaller batteries? I mean people like SUV's right? Well these are big just like them but they're also closer to the ground so I think it's a better idea.

I believe it's only a matter of time before an EV (Exploding Vehicle) being transported on a cruiseferry self-ignites and causes a serious maritime disaster because the fire cannot be extinguished.

why even use water at this point
just use more fire and make it burn quicker
jam a few flamethrowers up that bitch and reduce it to ash in an hour

How would they even do that? Opening the car ramp doors and moving the burning EV to the ramp could be a challenge if the deck is full of cars. Maybe they could push it with something, damn anything that gets in the way.
Those cruiseferries have also been known to capsize easily if any significant volume of water gets into the car deck, so doing that in rough seas might be even more tricky.

EVs are a rich person scam just like health care. They are forced on us so the unwashed masses need to buy in to the product they have their hands on, exclusively.

Don't some lithium battery chemistries release oxygen as they overheat and break down?
I suppose the sand might help contain the fire, though.

Reminder that EV fires are less common currently simply because there arent that many on the road yet and many of them arent 15+ years old (most get scrapped). Meanwhile most ICE cars catching fire at 15+ years old shitboxes with deferred maint. I cant wait for entire parking garages to go up in flames on the regular in another 5-10 years. Over here a lot of indoor garages banned EV's and only let them sit outside, really makes you wonder.
Also tell ur insurance that you own an EV and its parked in ur garage, guaranteed premium hike.

Actually imagine that... everyone in high end gated shitholes like LA will have their personal oceangate.... yeah i like that

Lmao if only it were that simple , lithium ion batteries contain their own oxidizer.
Lithium batteries using iron phosphate is supposed to prevent these dangerous battery fires.

his point was that anyone claiming that ICE catching on fire more as a counterargument is missing important information, being thar EVs are still newer and fewer than ICE cars skewing the statistics. He then went on to explain a second unrelated point about how even industries and cities are aware of how dangerous EV fires will be. You need to work on your reading comprehension, man, seriously.

Pine Level is a teeny tiny rural community and the fire department is run by volunteers. Really can't expect them to have the proper equipment for fighting the type of battery fires that come from EVs, especially since most people in the area think electric cars are a communist plot. Pic related is what it's best known for, as the sign can be seen from the Interstate passing through.

I haven't encountered an electric vehicle fire yet. 36000 gallons from my firetruck would take around 45 minutes to run. Fire fighters know its not the best thing and won't directly stop the fire most of the time. The sand idea can't work yet because our apparatus aren't bull dozens. So we use the best we can to prevent it from spreading right now. It's the recommendation from all the ev car makers for now to put it out. The blankets seem interesting but I wonder if it would be to hot to get that close. Plus I wouldn't want to risk some other part exploding or stupid because I don't know enough about them to safely make a determination. Blasting water for 45 minutes gets lame but I'd take that over a basement fire or really bad oil fire in a building either way.
