JDM vehicle tv configuration
I recently bought an Aristo V300, and I think the tv that’s built into the car is cool as shit. Is it possible to get the American signals to work or even get the Japanese tv signals to show up? Channel 2 while is white static does still have small traces of audible voices playing thru the static.

It’s a stupid little mod but I wanna have some cheap fun while I still figure out what kind of power I want to run with this beautiful boat.

Hey Op, same here, I imported two vehicles from Japan, both have tvs but neither the TV or radio work because of the frequency range they support are not offered in the America's

If anyone has a solution I'd love to hear it

Well maybe you can add a stronger antenna. Does the TV have any sorta ports or something? Theres gotta be something you can do because if it can't get the signal then maybe attaching a stronger antenna will work.

You need to make a thread on /g/ about this. They aren't all consumer electronic shills.

Uh I think this is what the rear looks like. Something here must connect to the antenna.

bottom right of that pic. one of those two holes ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) maybe the bottom one, will fit an antenna cable

Alright then all OP has to do is find some fuck huge antenna to plug into it.

I will ask on /g/ and I will ask around on aristo/jdm specific vehicle facebook groups if they have any knowledge on these. its surprising how little information there exists about this.

One big thing is, it would probably need a digital to analog converter because our ota tv signals got converted to digital maybe 10 years ago
Not sure about the uhf/vhf frequencies it can pick up.

People always say that Americans are bad drivers, meanwhile a lot of Japanese cars have TV functionality built into their infotainment screen. Insane to me how Japanese drivers watch TV while driving.

i do remember an anon a year or two ago that had a century with some funky antennas that were mounted to each c pillar, no idea if that was an oe option or not. wonder if those big cb radio antennas you see on 4wds would work.

There are band expanders for radio but I'm not sure for tv.

>s it possible to get the American signals to work
I vaguely remember reading a thread about this. Apparently the reason Japanese receivers don't work in the west is not only the band of wavelength of the signals is slightly different, but also the spacing of the signals. For example,in the west the wavelength skips .5 mHz. In Japan It's say .4Mhz, for example. Forum poster made his own board to make it work. Hope this helps.

I went ahead and asked a couple of JDM specific facebook groups regarding this. My suspicions about this were right, the amount of work required to make converters and adapters makes this a product that isn't available to purchase. I did however find a guy that is selling adapters to convert the TV port to an open rca. That would allow you to connect a dvd player or a game console to the screen and allow you to use it with the tv buttons. for funsis i can just throw a dvd simulating a japanese tv broadcast and trick anyone that doesn't know

The top speed on most Japanese roads is 25 MPH, and even less in crowded cities. They don't drive by drag racing to lights and going 90 MPH everywhere at the first sign of open road.

i remember a dash cam clip of japanese road rage that apparently made national news over there, it was some older guy that stopped in the middle of a feeeway on ramp, got out of his car and just stared/glared at the cammer while lighting up a cigarette lmao

The TV functionality is normally not available when the car is moving. A lot of people code that out though. Also, there are tons of terrible drivers here too, but, thankfully speed limits are pretty low inside cities.

TV signals are overrated. Gotta have a VCR that automatically rewinds to constantly play iconic movies.

Mine is a 93. No idea where the center console came from, I got it off marketplace. There are a few just like it on eBay.
