W201 anon here. On my 190E's AC system the electric fans hardly turn on, I had to bypass the pressure switch to make them run 24/7. It's easy and fixes most of my complaints about the AC going warm in traffic. The blend doors are all vacuum pods on the W201 and also the W124 if I am not mistaken. Some of them are available, but honestly just plug the dead parts of the system. Diagnosing dead pods is really easy with a hand vacuum pump.

This is assuming you are talking about an M103 powered car (Mine is a 2.6 5MT), and a USDM model. Euro cars have manual HVAC which simplifies things tremendously, and no it's not possible to swap it into a US car, believe me I would if I could.

>that paintjob
Someone paid BIG money to import a limp noodle 20th hand worn out ex-taxi around the globe that had 20 years of service and then gangbanged by various easteuropeans for years.
Probably +900k miles on the rewound odo.
Ignorance is bliss.

Depending on your country, quite possibly non-existing, especially if you have the sunroof.
Mine was not a cheap model (300CE) and just doesn't have one.

Old R12 systems are the shit. Can be filled with propane (r600) instead if you don't want to pay hundreds for r12.
Converted r12-->r134a systems are typically hot (and) garbage, avoid if possible.
Older stock r134a systems (mid 1990's) are fine.
Of course, all of these systems are 30+ years old and will most certainly be on their way out even if you paid top dollar; always budget for an AC overhaul

To add: it's possible to un-convert them, it's just the schrader valves typically, though some go the extra mile and change out hoses/compressor etc. Change them back if this is the case.

I have an R129 and itโ€™s icy cold, I love it. Mercedes didnโ€™t fuck around back then.

Fun fact: estate sales sell r12 for cheap. I picked up 7 cans for $10 and plan on not using them at all.

Based. I hoard a can for shitsbans giggles but if my system goes out, I'm removing it.

Btw. Toyota's r12 systems seem to last over 30 years untouched. I've had several that work(ed) great.

I have a 2003 Park Avenue and the AC still works fine, even to potency not lacking till it gets above 115 F. That is if I recharge it about every May, I drive with a cabin at 73F almost always

*It got about 95 in the shade recently near me, about 110 in the cabin, and yet got it down to about 80 in literally three minutes of fast idling.
