before i owned my c6 i owned an EM1.
nearly every system on that car failed somehow and i had to fix it up with rockauto parts by hand in my parent's backyard on jackstands with hand tools because i couldn't afford to take it to a shop.
but i guess you're right anon. owning nice things makes me a slave. yes, of course.

Awesome.
Reminder that "Buyer's Remorse" is a myth.
If you're actually good with your finances, and if you aren't making compromises with your car (as you said, you flew across the country to find a good deal, so it probably had to be the EXACT one you wanted), then you will have ZERO Buyer's remorse.
I felt the same way after buying my car.

Congrats, but I will say maybe you should have strived for delayed gratification for another year, getting a job after college is the best time to buy a car. Use that sign-on bonus.
It would be ridiculous to own a vette while still in college, and afterwards not being able to find a job. Even with your GPA, the market is tough.
Plus, random things like repairs should be the last thing on your mind when youre still in college.

But whatever, you already have the car, you like it, so just enjoy it. But you haven't finished the race yet. There's still another year of GRIND.

I agree, I think this is the best purchase I have ever made (knock on wood) and I hope the car lasts me many years. Honestly, it wasn't even about any specific make/model. I knew what I wanted in a vehicle and I picked one that ticked all my boxes. It needed to be:
>less than 80k miles
>20 years or newer
>manual
>anything but FWD
>leather seats (didn't enjoy cloth)
>reliable enough that it's not breaking down all the time
>maintainable/simple enough that I can work on it myself
That last bullet in particular was really important. I was between a corvette and a german sports coupe like a cayman. Ultimately I went with the C6 because the LS3 is bulletproof.

>>28480362
>delayed gratification
I tend to disagree actually. I know this purchase was a bit rich but I'm not sure if I would consider it financially irresponsible. I have more than enough cash to buy the car outright. I chose to finance about 60% of it on a superprime loan (rate is a hair above 7%) for the reasons you just outlined, mainly it's nice to have a bit of savings as an emergency fund in case something happens. However, I have enough liquid assets to pay the car off tomorrow and still have ~10k left over. And keep in mind the car itself is probably worth 22-25k, I got it for a pretty damn good price.
I already have full time offers in the works, yes the SWE job market is rough but I have connections. I also have a support network and parents that love me and would help me if something happened.
>Plus, random things like repairs should be the last thing on your mind when youre still in college.
Learned this the hard way with my civic. I bought a C6 specifically because my research indicated the LS3 was very reliable.

Ultimately, I feel that having a car like this makes me happier overall, which means I perform better in work/school. It's been on my vision board for a decade now, and I see it as more of an achievement that I earned through hard work than an impulse buy or a toy.

Great choice. Iโ€™ve spent a lot of time with the C6 and I can tell you itโ€™s just as fun as the C7, C8. All you have to do is make sure you donโ€™t feel the need to climb a ladder and chase more. Your C6 is lighter than any current vette and doesnโ€™t really need the extra power to be as fast.

Absolutely, unequivocally wrong. This is the cry of the lazy, poorfag loser. The reality is that hard work, working smart and planning is the key to success. If you work hard but have zero planning or smartness about how you go about it, no shit you'll be unsuccessful. Similarly, you could have great plans and smartness but if you have zero follow through (hard work) you'll also be unsuccessful.

His parents are quite evidently reasonably well off, considering that he has been able to save 90% of his income. No internship pays well enough for that other 10% to be enough to cover food and board, after all.
It's that type of stability that allows for academic success, in the vast majority of cases. There are rare exceptions, of course, but you don't see that many poor people achieve all of that and you can't chalk it all up to individual failure.

Lmfao. What kind of commie gobbledygook. The reality is many people are genetically inferior. Loser retards largely give birth to loser retards because the children inherit their parents garbage genetics. They are fully capable of doing everything OP did, but do not because they have shit genetics.

collegiate sports teams are divided into three majors, division 1 (D1) and D2/D3. mid major is a term commonly used to describe basketball teams that are D1 but not within a power conference (such as the SEC, big 10, etc), because many schools will have a D1 basketball team but a D2 football team or no football team at all.

Yeah, the reason guys do the whole midlife-crisis-buy-a-corvette/porsche is basically what you said. They've been driving a used Corolla their whole life because it's practical and cheap. And now at 43 the kids are teens and don't need as much support so Dad can finally buy the sports car he always wanted.
