Do y'all have a favorite Kia?

My dream imaginary Kia:
Same thing except:
better padding where your legs rest against the center console and door
should be easier to zoom map in and out there should be a dedicated steering wheel button for that
I should be able to show a full size map in the driver display like the new Chebby Equinox
heads up display (it has this now, mine is older and doesn't)
analog speedometer and tach (the digital ones are hard to read)
off-road mode
electronic locking rear diff in addition to locking center diff
actual leather steering wheel and real metal shifter plz
hydraulic steering - the electric power steering is fine in corners but lazy on center and disappears when slightly off center and if its off center when you lodge it in a bump it darts out without you being able to control it
better comfort-tuned suspension
softer plz and less bounce in bumps
also would like the cupholders replaced by like a bigger cubby
I'd like to be able to kick under the trunk and have it open that way when I'm holding stuff
the NA V6 engine from the Kia Carnival (same platform so it must be doable)
doors that lock and unlock as you approach or depart
better headlights (further and brighter plz)
better highway driving assist (I haven't tried HDA 2 and mine is older so it doesn't have that) but would be nice if it moved to the right when big trucks pass u and noticed signs and slowed down automatically for curves using a yaw sensor (I don't get how it doesn't do that) and it should work on off ramps and onramps - I also shouldn't have to manually set the gear down to 6 on curvy roads it should lower the gear for curvy roads - I've never had a car that does this and its my dream - every car becomes a manual on winding roads if you want to be in the meat of the powerband

It's a fucking pavement princess blob SUV. Nobody else on this board will share your enthusiasm. This doesn't read like ragebait, but some weird terrible future for car guys where they don't have anything good to list after that's remotely affordable. I want to tell you that I actually appreciate your enthusiasm and genuine original thoughts, and willingness to share them unabashedly, but you're not likely to find like minded individuals here. Only gook car I've ever looked at is the Genesis Coupe, the old one witj the slightly less retarded happy face instead of BIGGU GRIRRU meme. Also the Veloster is kind of cool for the three door meme. Never cared for the Stinger or any other Kia.

The Niro seems much lower to the ground. Good for handling, bad for off roading. Plus jesus the 2.5 is slow, I couldn't imagine a smaller engine and the battery would totally run out because I drive mostly on highways and rural back roads - but as a city car it makes a ton of sense.

And I don't think Kia does their X-Pro line with any of the hybrids - you get skid plates front and rear and a locking center diff and that alone is worth it as someone who paid thousands to repair broken oil pans, steering racks, and differentials when they got fucked up by rocky ass shitty dirt roads - and I don't think other manufacturers offer that in a unibody suv except the bronco sport sasquatch + gmc terrain at4

I see TONS of Carnivals out there - its the only newish minivan it's really like an XXL Sportage (XL being a Sorento)
and the v6 is nice, they really need to up the hp on both the 1.6T they use for hybrids and the size of the battery a bit too they've been using the same combo for a decade now

I also see a of Seltos
And some Telluride/Palisade for richer folk - nice interior to be sure but it's an older platform and tech than what Sportage/Sorento/Carnival use.

I haven't driven the 2024 update but they've been the same for awhile. They're just a fun little manual shitbox, that's good around town. I'm sure it would be wearing on a long trip however. It's closest competitors from China are CVT only. Closest realistic option is the Suzuki Swift, but it's an extra Au$6K.

Instead of making a product worth buying, Hyundai pays people to pretend to be customers that don't hate Hyundai. Can't seem to find these types in real life, but easy to find in the youtube comments section and forums like this.

make sure to buy one without a sunroof if you are tall
the annoying bit is they never make the sunroof QUITE wide enough so that you head would be under the glass part instead of the roof part so you are bumping into a lowered headliner
I have long hair and I kinda barely fit in with the seat lowered all the way
stinger was exceptionally cramped because it was meant to be a sports car and I don't think azn people get how fat and tall americans are relative to them

that said there's plenty of room inside and it's a good size car - my sportage is actually the xl wheelbase version of whats sold in most countries - but it's not too big to maneuver in tighter spaces.

the interior is much newer and the engine is a lot smoother and quieter
sienna is saddled with the same crappy rough 2.5 goyota uses in the rav4 and the same outdated NIMH battery that's too heavy and doesn't even give you much power.
And the interior hasn't really been modernized, it's a way older design than the Carnival. Toyota rests on their laurels and works less hard.

I see TONS of Carnivals out here - way more than Sienna. Definitely a lot of Odysseys too.

>you can't fuck up the seat settings enough to be comfroble
I find the seats in my Kia to be pretty adjustable, though I wish there were thigh bolsters and more padding where your legs brush the center console and driver's door.

I actually have a Niro PHEV and I love it. But I've realized I prefer the car more when it's driven by battery rather than engine. I can't stand engine noises anymore.

But yes my existing Niro is a very sensible choice - cheap insurance and taxes, considered reliable, fairly cheap for its class, can drive on entirely battery if you want to for 50km. Very comfortable and nice steering. It's a great car for every day use.

I hate engine noises too. But, that said, refilling in 2 minutes almost anywhere and being able to drive through mountains without worry is worth it.
If you are just driving in the city, fine, but even then all electric cars have at least 1000 lbs of batteries on board.

I realize my data is being harvested but the quality of tech is good enough that I suppose I don't care that much. You should definitely try the new Niro or maybe even a Genesis if ur a richfag now. I mean would a slightly used G70 V6 really be any more expensive than an EV6?

Also, call me insane but I was driving on the highway and noticed that the car kinda kept a bit further to the left side of the lane than I would like when I had it on cruise control, and then a software update came in over the air (my car does that), and then I drove it again and that issue seems kinda fixed. I wonder if I'm just hallucinating.

I have this issue too. It has persisted despite me updating the car. I hate how the car doesn't stick more to the right side as not to collide with the opposing lane. Maybe my 2019 model isn't receiving Kia's attention anymore. The smart cruise control though works really well. But the active lane keep system is dodgy as fuck.

Nope, only the 2022+ generation at least for my car gets over-the-air updates
I think that's only the newest gen of Kia/Hoondai
I feel like there's this conflict where they don't want to program it to do anything illegal so it can't like veer out of the lane or try to take a curve over the double yellow
> But the active lane keep system is dodgy as fuck.
no its soooo good on the sportage
I mean, on divided highways
it works on any road with two markings on either side, but hilariously if the markings disappear it just goes into a ditch without warning you at all - no chime, no signal nothing just the green steering wheel icon disappearing and the car lurching to the side
but that doesn't happen too often
it also fucks up if there's like an exit without white dotted lines between the exit lane and the lane continuing on the highway it will veer over to the right
but it drives itself handsfree on any divided highway with no real problems other than not moving over a bit more for big trucks passing you, which supposedly has been fixed with HDA 2 (I have HDA 1) but I can't find any actual specific proven info on that

but yeah it drives itself you just have to tug the steering wheel every 60 seconds a bit, ALSO it works at night and in the rain
it only conks out in like heavy downpours

That's not slop. It's the opposite of slop. There are many other car brands that are just poor value propositions or just overhyped by the masses. Volvo is one of those brands, as is Hybri-yota.

I saw 5 Kia Carnivals today on my travels. They are very popular! Kia at least invests in its cars and doesn't sell you ancient junk on 20 year old platforms like Jeep.

>Mazda kinda gave up
In the 2020's, releasing a large RWD platform and an all new straight six in petrol and diesel form for it a hardly giving up.
>FLAMED
I'm not interested in SUV's so I haven't read any reviews about them though. New Mazda Bt-50 truck looks good though.

I'm not interested in SUV's so I haven't read any reviews about them. New updated Mazda Bt-50 truck looks good. Kia's also releasing it's midsized truck soon.
