I have a Town Car that's been sitting in a storage unit in the PNW for 3 years. How easy do you think it will be to get it running again?
I'm thinking
- Mice have eaten hoses
- Fuel is trash
- Rusty brakes
- Etc.
Any advice / tips?

You'll need to tow it a garage and do a full once over.
At bare minimum change the oil before you attempt to start it.

>Mice have eaten...
May as well just scrap it since they'll have eaten more than just hoses

probably not hard at all. People fire up barn finds all the time and drive them home

You'll want to get the gas tank drained and the oil changed before you try to start it. Pumping lousy fluids through an engine will screw things up fast.

Replacing hoses isn't going to be that bad if the mice got at it; but if they got into the wiring they can do a lot of damage.

>Rust

That's the big question. No way of knowing how bad it will be. If the storage unit stayed dry then it shouldn't be bad, if it was humid in there then the whole car could be screwed.

Unless you find a nest or mouse shit it's fine, I guarantee a fresh battery and gas would fire it up. Fresh tires/brake pads and get the rotors resurfaced, simple as

very likely, but assuming they're all original, is a good idea to replace everything rubber anyway. don't forget the ones on top of and inside the fuel tank
> - Fuel is trash
most definitely. get one of those suction things and an endoscope. after you empty the junk gas, check to see if the tank is varnished and/or rusted. replace if needed.
also, remember to disconnect the rest of the fuel system and to jump the fuel pump to empty the gas in the pipes/hoses before you start it.
> - Rusty brakes
yeap. just get the rotors/drums resurfaced

pray that nothing has rusted out and that nothing has made its way to the interior. mouse poop/pee smell is a bitch to get out. mold too.
replace all the fluids, oil, tranny oil, diff oil, brake fluid
replace the tires too
check the suspension components too
just, in general, fucking everything.
3 years is a long time.

water water water

ethanol in the fuel will absorb water and destroy the pump, lines, if you dont flush the rail that debris will destroy the injectors. if its ever had tap water in it the coolant pipe under the intake is suspect, the block is cast iron you can have rust in there plug the radiator, brake fluid absorbs moisture, can rust the inside of the calipers and seize them, rust out brake lines, water accelerates deterioration of rubber, if its sat in one place the tires probably look good on the top but have massive rot in one spot where they sat submerged

its done, forget you saw it
