Is 28ft kind of too long for a 10k flatbed, or should I look for a 14k trailer for the same length? It'll be for a Kubota that weighs around 5k without the bucket and rake, and I wanted enough deck space for either small dump runs (weeds, stumps and trimmings) and/or a mower or stump grinder attachment. I feel like balancing the load would be tricky if I can't front load the trailer too much anyway.

I currently have a 10k trailer that's 20 feet and the tractor barely fits with the bucket and rake on.

28ft steel trailer is like 4000+ lbs by itself, so 10k rating leaves only 6k payload, putting 5k tractor + other attachments and misc junk already at its limit

Damn that's a long ass trailer, looking like the potential for a lot of tongue weight too if you're bumper pulling like that picture.
What are you pulling it with?

Just go 14k. Buy once cry once, I can't reasonably fathom ever needing to upgrade from a 28 foot trailer outside of commercial intentions.

IDK about your dump, but id hate this trailer for dump runs.

My 20' is 1800lbs empty, why would extra 8' double the weight?
>>28483480
For sure, I would put springs on that hitch, thats a lot of leverage.

It's probably bagged, I doubt this guy can run his tractor/truck combo with a big ass dump trailer.

Only loaded front heavy, there's 30' bumper pull enclosed trailers out in the world too.

>>28483418 (OP) if you're looking at using it for dump runs and hauling a Kubota, why not get a dump trailer instead. I use a 19 foot gooseneck dump trailer and haul various Bobcats and other equipment in it and it's still better suited for dump runs.

My current issue is finding a 28 footer with a 14k gvwr, why are all the long utility trailers 10k?
>>28484649
I don't have a gooseneck in my bed, and kind of don't want one tying it up regardless. That also doesn't help me load more on the trailer as far as rakes, buckets and grinders go. If I went a gooseneck route I'd be better off getting a 30 foot flatbed and not worrying about room. But that (and dump trailers) cost a good chunk of money.

A tractor isn't going to fit, maybe you could use it for a Walmart cripple cart?

A standard 2025 f250 has a minimum bumper pull of over 17k pounds. It's actually tricky to overload these trucks without severely overloading the front of the trailer. I think they have a standard hitch rating of 2400lbs tongue weight, I really doubt a flimsy flatbed is going to overload any 3/4 or 1 ton before getting obliterated itself.

Lots of trailers are built different and length to weight varies drastically. I have a 30ft gooseneck that weighs 8k by itself.

Super solid trailer but it has some pretty shitty heavy tires and doesnโ€™t go too far as itโ€™s for hay and equipment moving between properties.

Weight is typically determined by length x gvwr. A 14' trailer rated for 16000# will be substantially heavier than a 20' trailer rated for 7000. That said OP should be looking at pintle hitch lowboys at this point.
