Hello /o/, I am turning 35 this year and I am going through a mid-life crisis.
I want to buy a proper V8 car.
-NA V8
-RWD (LSD please)
-Manual (auto is fine if no other options)
-Nothing newer than 2010.
Does not have to be a sports car. A coupe, or 4 door sedan is fine. No trucks, or useless SUVs. Wagons welcomed.
My budget is $20,000. I can stretch it out to $25k. Need to keep maintenance in mind.
I'm in the midwest, but will drive to any state to get a rust free variant.

Not getting a GXP for under $30k unless you get very lucky unfortunately (and for that much I'd save a little more and get a Chevy SS instead), or are fine with the GT that was auto only

There is no such thing as a mid-life crisis. You are depressed with how your life turned out. You fix that and you will fix your "crisis." It usually starts with a better woman by your side.

The only answer otherwise is a motorcycle. If all you do is think about Corvettes, then just wear short khaki's with a button up T and dip your police stash in your coffee everywhere you go and complain about kids, China, and how we need more government to control the illegals.

C5 Corvette is your only option with that criteria

As others have said C5/C6 vette
Fourth and fifth gen Camaros
Fourth and fifth gen Mustangs
Dodge challenger/charger
Jaguar XF
A lot of Mercedes options. E and S classes all had optional V8s. SL's older AMGs, etc.
If you care more about having a V8 than it actually being fast and you don't mind looking like a grandpa then Panther platform cars are still fairly affordable.

T. in the same boat as you and constantly fantasizing about trading in my practical DD for something with a V8.

Something from the 50's or 60's. Classics are way more fun to drive.

Sam with Cleetus McFarlane runs 11s in a supercharged drag truck.

Did I mention he's nearly 80? He may be old, but he's still rocking it.

op here, i was wasted and forgot i made this thread.

my top pic so far has been the chevy ss. how does it compare to the g8?
I was also looking at BMWs, and Merc, but many mercs are twin turbo. idk about that.

ive had a bike, i crashed it after some cunt sides wiped me at 40, and fucked up my left knee. 2 surgeries later, ive lost all interest in that.

im not really keen on a vette, i want a more practical car that draws less attention.
same thing with mustangs and cameros. im not a fan of either but will consider if the price is right.

jag xf, isnt that basically a ford? if i go for luxury, i want proper luxury. problem with those cars is its a deep hole to get into with so many features they came with, its hard to pick a year or price point.

alright dude, just get a 5.0 Coyote Mustang
yes its newer than 2010 but the S197 body style started in 2005 and they used it till the more modern S550 debuted in 2015. The only major difference is the engine
Otherwise get the 3V 4.6 from 2005-2010 which you can find for even cheaper

Any BMW V8 newer than an E46 gen is going to be asking for trouble. Merc V8s are generally way more reliable, but yes you'll want to avoid pretty much an of them with turbos. If you can find an old E55 amg those are supercharged but fairly reliable.

They're all the same thing and basically abandonware. Oh sure, you can get what powertrain parts that were shared with US models but all the Holden shit has to come from Australia and the pipeline is pretty thin. As with most GM performance models they aren't worth what people want for them.

Doesn't the GTO use a LS1 or LS2?
What's different between the GTO version that makes it shit compared to a Corvette?

Mid-life crisis is 100% is a thing.
It's when you get to the point in life that you can no longer change the trajectory of your life without upending it.

Bro if you're having a mid-life crisis, you're not going to be satisfied with a v8 grocery getter.
Get a Mustang.
If you're okay with buyers remorse, then a Grand Prix GXP? I have no idea how much they go for.
