expensive diag tools
expensive diag tools

>Looking up diagnostic software for any brand
>Its always has a extremely locked down piece of software, or sometimes a dodgy crack
>And a bespoke piece of hardware to adapt from a laptop to OBD2
>Average cost ranges between £75-150, even for chinese knock offs
How have we not made an emulator for the tools, or even a FOSS ECU programmer yet?

Honestly the one good thing about bmw is that the dealer software is pretty readily available. INPA and ISTA are pretty easy to use and code in new stuff or diag sensors.

Great for when your tuning a track car
Bit overkill when you just need to reset the milage when cleaning out a DPF

There's "complexity" which is functional and compelxity that is bad. My engine reads out every sensor available. Oil temp, pressure, maf+map, cylinder charge, etc.

I can see the physical effect of dropping a 10w-50 in compared to a 5-20 in real time.
