Nico Hulkenberg was the tallest driver to race the Porsche 919 WEC car (he's 6' and won Le Mans for them in 2015, his only race in a 919) and the clutch paddles on the steering wheel would catch his knees in corners, sometimes leaving him out of gear.

Despite this, Hulkenberg was able to pull of a win and Porsche committed to making a "special model" that could accommodate his "large size", as most Porsche drivers are of a diminutive stature.
Good on Porsche for being able to do a special car for people who aren't manlets. Always nice to see racing innovation.

"The entire car had to be re-built from the ground up with the idea that a person who is taller than 6 feet would be in the cockpit"
Neat!

Hopefully Porsche will be able to take these innovations of making cars not for manlets into their mainstream line.

Didn't know the HULK won 24hr of Lemans.
Not sure why they'd build the car around someone so short.
Race cars I've built were made to fit a wide range of heights.
One driver on my team is 5ft 6, while I'm 6ft6.

Top level drivers tend to be smaller in stature, like jockeys.

The other thing is that motorsport teams (especially F1) will weigh and measure a driver completely accurately. This isn’t the NBA/WWE/NFL/your dad’s choice of gay dating app where everyone lies about their height

I’m 6’ 4” and while I couldn’t drive an air-cooled model as the cabin is too small, I could drive the later 911’s. No idea about Cayman/917 as I wouldn’t have one
