What is the best of the cheap but powerful OBD II devices? Needs to do ABS! - /o/ (#28489198) [Archived: 743 hours ago]

I have a false ABS light on on my 2012 Mazda 3 Auto from a low battery causing it to freak out and none of the other "fixes" have worked: pulling the battery terminal for 20+ minutes, turning to "on" and pumping gas 3 times, turning wheel lock to lock while "on" or running, driving for a few miles, using a cheap OBD II (clearly engine code-only), etc.

At this point, I need a step up in OBD reader that can read and clear ABS codes, and I know the internet has to have a turbo autist master strat.

There are two I've found that seem promising:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XGB4873
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08PFJMTY3

What it must have:
-$50 or less for bluetooth reader, $150 or less for full tablet device (might go outside of these prices, but not like $500)
-Needs to be able to read and reset ABS codes and preferably all stored ECU codes on a MAZDA
-NO SUBSCRIPTIONS for features other than obscure stuff I won't likely need

What I prefer:
-iOS capable if bluetooth reader (I have a throwaround Android, but it's old and way out of security updates, so I don't like connecting to Wi-fi on it. For now my main phone is iOS so that's easiest)
-Free or low cost updates if I buy a new car down the road
-Being able to read recent BMW and 90s Chevy a plus
-Powered by OBD II or has a replaceable battery so it's not shelf dead in 5 years.
-Searchable OBD codes to see how people solved similar problems (probably more common on phone-based bluetooth modules)

What I don't give a shit about:
-read/write speeds (I will use this like once a year tops)
-interference with similar modules because they use the same bluetooth code (this will be used in my driveway, no one will be competing for bluetooth for this device)
-autistic security shit, no one will be trying to hack my OBD II port

Because youre looking for an intermediate device, specifically something cheap.
/o/ is either people who dont know how to check their oil or people with full blown USB interfaces to their ECUs with complete rewrite control and data logging.

Just ask autozone if you can borrow a code scanner, and if it works then buy one to keep in your car

No, I'm looking for the *value* choice, which is what smart people do.

Cheap code readers can't do shit but clear engine codes, and expensive ones are cool but are way too expensive for personal use to deal with a random code every 2-3 years and often require expensive subscriptions.

There should be a shadetree autist OBD reader of choice that is powerful enough to clear most/all codes, but not cost as much as a god damn gaming PC and then just sit in a closet for years until it's needed again.

They just have/use the cheapshit ones, and last time I tried them they wouldn't even clear the code because "muh state inspection fraud" even though I didn't even care about that, I just wanted to troubleshoot. The first step in troubleshooting a code is recording it and seeing if the same code comes back. In that case back then, I bought my own cheap one and cleared it and it never came back, but cheap ones won't clear ABS codes, which is why I'm here ITT.
