Was looking for a S197 GT under $10k and stumbled on this, actually pretty cheap for a Saleen but these cost $40k brand new ($14k over the price of a base GT).

Only thing that makes me nervous is the seller is a little uneducated:

>No i was about to do 93 oct , i do have a new intake and bigger throttle body I didnโ€™t install it yet because Iโ€™m selling it for goods no issues at all im still driving it. Let me know if u need more info, the stuck parts are included+ i do have the carfax . Thank you

Mind you it's a twin screw supercharger on what's probably a stock 4.6 3v and he's already done a full exhaust/header with no tune. But it's a sexy looking car and definitely a awesome alternative to the other Mustangs at that price point (70-120k mile base 5.0 S197, because a Terminator is still $22-30k). I think I'd take one over a Termi if they were more common. A GT500 of the same gen is still $30-40k. Not crazy on the black but it works here...the wheels look kinda like base 5.0 S197 wheels but they're def wider (iirc it has 275s all around stock)

On one hand I can see where they're coming from, saved up enough to have a restored or mint condition icon from their youth, realize they can't even get in or out of it with any dignity because they're old and corvettes are sports cars, only to realize they're about to lose tens of thousands on it isn't a great prospect.

But also, when you've been posting the same car for the same price for months or in some cases YEARS maybe its time to lower your ask maybe a few hundred bucks?

I don't really know man but I don't see Gen X or millenials spending $50k+ on garage queen weekend toys very often. Some guys do, some guys daily a $90,000 sports car in their late 20s but techbro driving whatever fits that category isn't likely picking up a 50 year old car because their father lusted after one.

Last time I talked to a classic car dealer candidly had like $10mil of cars in his warehouse and he was trying to convince me to consider finance options on a $120,000 Plymouth Barracuda. He kindof admitted very few guys under 60 seriously consider taking out such a loan to buy such a car. Which brings us full circle of
>who is even buying these off aging boomers?
I have a feeling its other boomers in their early 60s finally coming into some money, because if you are going to spend that much on a car, do you want a modern car that can do everything you could ask of it, or an ancient piece of shit that isn't as good as a modern mustang?

I always laughed at the dying boomer memes and then I went to drop off some old '50s Chev my bro fixed up and flipped. The guy buying it was like the sterotype of a boomer but hooked to an oxygen tank and sucking back cigarettes, talking about how he always wanted one of these cars. Saw it up for sale again a few months later. Mostly just made me sad.

Whatever is going on right now with the car market is just kind of silly but I think it's gonna get real wild in the next 5 - 10 years when disinterested millennials or whatever start inheriting rare valuable cars.

>when disinterested millennials or whatever start inheriting rare valuable cars.
lol. Lmao. I still participate in /k/ related boomer forums. Every one I am on that has a poll, about 50% of boomers plan and strive to spend every dime they can by the time they die. Some even admitting they plan on getting a reverse mortgage (or already have one) so they can maximize the amount of money spent. They usually point out their kids are either "rich enough" without an inheritance or "fuck em I got mine" attitude.
The other half is "i know this would help them tremendously because my parents died with nothing and I could've used a spare $500k+".

I fully expect boomers to donate their cars to museum collections, or ship it off to some gay auction that has 40% fees so realistically they sold their $100k car for $60k, but would've shot someone for offering $70k. Alternatively, the adult children inheriting those things will either destroy them in protest of their parents, sell them to a dealership for whatever, or keep the cars rotting outside for 20 years.

Just like how Model A's, Ts, t-buckets, 20's roadsters, 30s coupes, 40s jeeps, and 50's pickups are basically topped out at $15-20k in mint condition, will the same happen to muscle cars in 20 years? Someone spent $150k restoring some classic car from their childhood, dies, and it slowly continues to sell at a loss for a couple decades until barely anyone cares about it?

Gentlemen, I present to you the final boss of the boomer seller.
>take a pic of it on the street through my window screen, camera focused on the screen
Nah, too much personal info
>photo of my computer screen my grandson took last winter?
nah, my grandson is a moron
>print off a black and white photo of the automobile I am trying to sell for several thousand dollars and take a photo of that to upload
Perfect.

Canadian car market, especially Toronto and any area within 200km of Toronto, is completely fucked. It's nearly impossible to find any beater under $5k that won't croak within a year unless you put in the vehicle cost in repairs.

I am nowhere near toronto. I wouldn't consider that zx a beater, seems clean from the pics and low mileage. It just feels like a turbo version would have sold for less money than that 10 years ago.

I bought mine off of the son of an aging boomer collector. I didn't pay anywhere near what your guy thinks he ought to get for that 'Cuda. I'm 27 and bought it at 26.
Anyone that's financing a classic car is a moron. If you can afford to finance a $120,000 car you can afford to wait a couple years and buy a classic outright. Also I'm sure your dealer friend is nice but I wouldn't trust any kind of warehouse dealer. Too many flipper-factories out there.

>>28491185
I am interested in how all this will pan out too. I think a small contingency will keep the car market alive and likely ultimately push it up. Gen-Z is by and large disinterested in driving, at least how previous generations were. I'd imagine that lots of rare cars will be sniped by collectors for dirt cheap before ultimately there is an insular market of rich yuppies all lusting after the exact same things. Lots of cars will drop off in value but those that have some sort of value/cultural cache will become Rembrandts of sorts.
This isn't even speculating on the future of driving, 15 minute cities, green shit etc. If old cars come with grandfather permits against green crap then this market will be INSANE

Also...no lowballers, I know what I got

lol guessing the kid either had no idea what it was, or just wanted to get rid of it? wouldn't be surprised if he sold it for what his dad told his mum he bought it for, or maybe less if it was just taking up room.

At best, it's MAYBE a 10k car. 30k can get you a really nice E39/E36/E46 M car instead. Insane.

There are 2 types of people that buy Subarus. Guys wanting an AWD car to commute in non-snow areas and pretending its a sports car, and lesbians.

I would like a subaru, but I know every single one with over 100k miles (cheaper ones) are basically a ticking time bomb of an engine and transmission and the clutch is likely on the last 37 miles of material. Then on top of it there is a subaru tax of buying any aftermarket part is inevitable going to be silly expensive.

Thats why I clipped the listing the first time. $14k for what amounts to a go kart seems appropriate. It being a BMW kinda spooks me for reliability and ease of parts repairs.

I wonder if that dude actually does lurk here can explain why he got the engine wrong and dropped the price so drastically.
