Cost cutting and being "modern" are also factors but i despise how when tesla got MASSIVE in the late 2010s everyone started looking at screen interiors and years later we got this shit

it's better on the premium. worst part is the screen is so tall and so much of it is just bezel. there's a good inch and a half on the top and sides. makes it look very outdated and chunky. i predict the facelift will sport a much slimmer screen with the on-screen controls moved back to physical buttons to make it look sleeker and sportier.

I like it desu, looks comfy and locked in, like a cockpit. The way everything is tilted towards you is cool. The 90's supras had this kinda styling too (the newer versions just don't have the same sovl).

SUV interiors were always like this though. It just looks taller because the screen is set back. But they have always had absolutely monolithic dash boards.

Oh so what you're saying is the interior of that 1998 Escalade is identical to the interior of a 1996 Suburban? So why nitpick so hard over a 2 year difference on two cars that are exactly the same? Like if they made a 1996 Escalade then there wouldn't have been a problem at all?
I mean we can go back to the 60s. They still had huge dashboards. A big ass engine needs a big ass hood and a big ass hood needs a big ass dashboard.
The argument you SHOULD be making is from the outside. Because the top of the dashboard is higher off the ground compared to an older one, because the hoodline is taller compared to an older one. But that's not the argument being made.

I might be a contrarian and hate these cars overall, but the simplistic design kind of works. It's very stark and utilitarian, not pretty but not necessarily ugly.
