why is northstar engine so bad? I heard it is because GM put too short bolts in the head, but that can't be the only thing wrong with it, right? why did they not just put better bolts in it?

Something about the block being too soft and the head bolt threads being too fine so they pulled right out over time. Also starter under the intake manifold lmao.

Had a friend with a Northstar buick Lucerne. Had a blown head gasket scare. Most people find remo ing ghe whole engine the easiest way to swap it.
Lucky she traded it. Now I need to figure out why the brakes are soft... Trying drum brake adjustment screws today.

Pain in the ass to service.
