The shear comfort , simplicity, and common edgenuity when it comes to work on any of them. Absolutely recommend going that route if you want to be a mechanic be a german specialist youโ€™ll sleep well at night.

>my customers adore me especially when i qoute or hand them the repair bill,
>they take my word on anything everytime they completely understand the nature of some the most simply designed cars to service.

So what's the issue with handing them the bill? Do they try to weasel their way out of it or just verbally abuse you?
>How dare my expensive imported luxury car that I neglected be expensive to fix!
How do they not see it coming?

but satan, don't most engines now use that to hold the cylinder head to the block?
unless of course you're talking about stretch bolts in areas that don't need them.

the worst part of working on kraut cars is that the owners are always the cheapest motherfuckers on the planet and they are so fucking stupid its unbelievable
>valve cover on BMW leaking
>tell them the price of changing the valve cover + the cost of a new cover
>they shit themselves and whinge about the price
>tell them I can change just the gasket for cheaper but there's no promise it wont leak later because the garbage valve cover is probably warped and they might end up paying for labour twice
>do the cheaper way!
>do it, make a note of them being a cheap faggot on the invoice for not wanting to do shit properly
>it starts leaking a week later
>wtf I have to pay you again???
I hope every one of these types of dumbasses assholes rot out

+1

Do you even wrench?

Mag trays laying around with half a dozen random bolts and you canโ€™t remember which job they were from, thatโ€™s a bonus. But sometimes that shit saves the day.

This, it's the most annoying shit having to comb through the repair manual to find out which of the bolts are one time use and to get them ordered

>service managers buddy buys 2022 (I think) 5 series hybrid second hand from bobs car sales as the passenger front fender and some of the bumper were damaged in crash
>another buddy does the body work for cash under the table and foreman's buddy's has a relatively new 5 series
>inside of front bumper on pass.side is the transmission cooler which was damaged and replaced by body shop.
>week later tranny goes into failsafe mode and owner tows it to our shop
>after several hours of my licensed service manager trying to find out why it won't shift and why there's a MIL for a transmission solenoid.
>"hey boss I know it's stupid but is there ATF in there?"
>service manager is kicking himself because we realize the body shop replaced the cooler but didn't bother to top up the fluid.
>only $18 CDN per litre and the fucker drank 10 litres
>now boss is pissed cause the easy fix he promised his buddy cost 200 bucks and still won't shift
>manager gives up and calls BMW to see if they have an idea
>he finds out that the 8 speed automatic transmission that runs on liquid gold can't be towed without disabling first by unscrewing a bolt on bottom of tranny which the tow truck driver did
>6 hours, $200, and tightening 1 bolt later the kraut wagon is gone and manager lost some more hair
>manager no longer tells his buddies to buy BMW's
