>>28494796The U11 X1 isn't a car for rich daughters, it's the kind of car the status obsessed pajeets who just want something with a BMW badge end up in. Real rich daughters get at least an X3, usually an X5.
Why is the U11, and every other FWD car from BMW an irredeemable pile of dog shit? Simple. They don't know how to fucking do it. In the most literal sense, BMW does not know how to properly put an engine in a car sideways. F48 X1s have a ridiculous rate of motor mount failure, both rubber mounts disintegrating and the aluminum arms just inexplicably snapping in half. It seems they figured out how to keep the engine from almost falling out now, but then they went and gave the U11 a clunky DCT for some reason, which means a more frequent service interval with less smoothness. And before you say "well it's for faster shifts" dude it's a fucking X1. And also with the U11 and new F74 2 series, they decide to totally discharge the battery if you let them sit for a couple weeks, if even that. My suspicion is that their batteries are too small for the electrical load they demand, since they have to stuff the battery under the cowl by the brake fluid reservoir. At my dealership I've done dozens of batteries on cars with like 10 miles on them, and almost all of them were U11s or F74s. Apart from actual mechanical reasons, the U11 is just not a very comfortable or user friendly car. The interior quality, ride quality, and general seating position is a little bit better than the F48, but it's kind of nuked by the fact they chose for it to not have an iDrive knob, so you have to piddlefuck with your stupid iPad screen using your fingers only like a fucking toddler. The ride quality is mostly better just because it doesn't come with runflats anymore. It has nothing to do with "track day bro", bro. It's just a shitty crossover with a badge it shouldn't have.
