Can we make a car shaped like an upside down plane wing to generate downforce?

Hasn't that essentially been done? Except more aerodynamic and looking less like the Homermobile

That's basically what a diffuser is, a big upside-down wing on the bottom of the car.
The Aston Martin Valkyrie is one of the most extreme examples I can think of, look at the size of those venturi tunnels.

Oh OH I know this one
>They did and it was called the C2 Corvette
...it was a terrible idea. Thanks to ground-effect lift the damn thing is near undriveable above ~90 mph. They tried correcting this with hood vents before realizing rain would get inside the engine compartment and thus the first year had fake vents to show that they tried (???) Exceedingly rare race versions have functional vents at least.

I think so , but is it a good idea ?

"F1 porpoising is an aerodynamic phenomenon where a car bounces up and down rhythmically on a straight, caused by the car's ground effect aerodynamics, which creates a cycle of increasing and then suddenly decreasing downforce."

Why not use a big propeller or jet or turbine or whatever pointing directly down to add a massive amount of downforce?

The primary reason for banning the f1 fan car was the concern that it would suck up debris from the track and then violently spit it out at following cars, posing a significant hazard to competitors.

And do you have any idea how much dirt and small rocks is on normal public roads ?

That design won't work.

The bernoullis principle explanation is wrong.

If it were right, those balsa wood planes you broke in 4 minutes as a kid wouldn't fly either.

Plane wings fly because the top of the wing is sucked to the sky. The curved top and edge just helps the air stay stuck.

That said, as other anons have pointed out ground effects are another ballgame.

There are a few cars that do already. Off the top of my head, the T.50 and the mcmurty batmobile thing.
