I had a manual ~2008 Honda Civic. Had to downshift to get up big hills driving through the mountains. It was slow. Everybody would be passing me. It was like the bare minimum for a car.

i've done it a few times to get past slower traffic. one memorable time was a shitbox that wasn't expecting such an old grampa car to be that fast/have that much power. i could see his speed increasing when a passing section appeared and i went to overtake him. dropped it down a gear and shot ahead. he started trying to ride my ass but had to pull back after two turns when i kept it pegged at the limit around the bends.
