I just want to say I'm fucking REPULSED by how every car maker in the world seems to be converging on this kind of bluff flat faced design language.
And not the cool kind of flatness like a 70's land yacht or 90's E30, but this gay almost-but-not-quite melted flatness where it gives the *impression* of being flat but then you zoom in and can't not notice that not a single point anywhere on the front has a level surface like looking too closely at an ai generated picture and you can't unsee it it's fucking BOTHERSOME.

Their current D23 pickup with the YD25 is a good work truck. They seemed to iron out those soft rear spring issues and they are the standard government truck in my country. We got 3 in 2022 and I can't say about a single complaint against them aside from their looks. Hell they are 1/3 cheaper than the equivalent hilux and if we have any need to we can grab a 4th one and still be around the 3 Hilux price mark.

Even the Toyota dealer was steering us to their GWM pickups because Toyota were just inflating prices and shafting their dealers as vehicles are price controlled in my country to stop that shit you see in the states (those D23's) are the same price as they were in 2018 when we got two to replace some 2007 D22's we had that were a bit tired from hauling 3,500 lbs on too often an occasion.

All normal convertibles are completely unprepared for light "offroading". Wrangler and other SUVs with removable panels have shit for aero and removing/installing back everything is a chore.

All NATIVE Germans I know either simply don't like the current Bmw designs or actually hate the designs.
The issue is that German car brands no longer cater to Germans. Domestic market taste became an after after AFTER thought. They try really fucking hard to cater to other developing markets that crave loud designs.
Funnily they got really burned hard by the Chinese market recently.

i will take this opportunity to inform you that for at least a few years now, escalade Vs have crackle tunes from the factory. not sure if optional or not. it seems that gm in an oddly non-retarded management decision are aware of their buyer's demographics

That grille's frankly improved by mandatory front plates.
I've also seen mods where people cut a hole in the grille below the plate to install a wide light bar, which at least makes some use of all that space. It's not like an economy car like that has any use for extra cooling air anyway. In a cold enough climate it might actually run better most of the year with the whole grille blocked.

It surprisingly looks better in person than in photos. And while it's not a car that anyone should buy, it's a perfect rental for sunny places, it does everything a family of four might want on a vacation and it's a fun novelty while having mostly regular car maintenance.

Only some of them have one, so it must consume many to keep itself fed.

>but this gay almost-but-not-quite melted flatness where it gives the *impression* of being flat but then you zoom in and can't not notice that not a single point anywhere on the front has a level surface like looking too closely at an ai generated picture and you can't unsee it it's fucking BOTHERSOME.
They do that because they are at the absolute maximum size allowed on the roads, but the designers still want them to look bigger. Having the panel jut out and back and jut back out again makes it look like bigger than it is. It's stupid, but so are the buyers of these behemoths.
