For me, it's the Colorado ZR2.
>>28497613 (OP)I’m still nervous about the turbo 2.7, and mourn the V6 from the 2nd generation.
>>28497613 (OP)I prefer the trail boss, I like the fact that GM made a shitty base model spec but with the off road upgrades. Shame about the 2.7 and lack of buttons
2.7 looking better than a 5.3 or 6.2 right now.
>>28497964AFM/DOD is so awful it has me considering a 2.7 or the 3.0 duramax for my next truck.
Never imagined I'd forgo a NA V8.
>>28498038Plenty of 2.7's have blown up. They also have AFM. The 3.0 has a belt driven oil pump at the back of the engine that requires the tranny and transfer case to come out. It also has a terrible reliability record. Surprise Surprise, an Italian engine is a piece of shit. As a GM owner I think you gotta be out of your fucking mind to buy any new GM truck. I wouldn't even trust one on a lease at this point. That being said I wouldn't touch a new Ram, Ford or Toyota truck either.
>>28497927Trail boss doesn't have locking diffs, although it does have LSDs rather than open diffs. Is this a significant trade off?
>Colorado is now on the same 1500 chassis
Fuck this shit and fuck the 2.7

>>28497613 (OP)For me it's the ZR1. Can actually tow things. Smoother ride on the road. Most trucks are pavement princesses 90% of the time and the other is dirt and snow. Which it handles fine.
>>28498038I know a few guys with the 3.0, all of them love it. And the resale is the best half ton truck resale period. It’s over complicated, but everything is over complicated these days.
>>28499093Z71, not ZR1.
>>28499122I don’t understand why nutruck buyers want 20+ inch rims, not only is it bad for ride quality, tire life, and off road performance, it’s not even like they’re stuffing enough brake in there to mean anything, they’ll all fit 17 inch steelies or 18 inch alloys.
>>28499151>nutruck buyers want I don't think they want, it's like there's no alternative. I don't even think they want nutrucks, but that's all we got if buying new.
>they’ll all fit 17 inch That was the minimum for GMT900 in 2007 iirc
Today it's probably more. My cuckover from 2010 can't accomodate anything less than 18"
>>28499179The third gen Colorado ZR2 has an 18 inch alloy wheel option for people who want meatier tires, because that's important even if you're running 33s or 35s (Bison package). They'll absolutely be able to put the right profile of 17 inch steelies if you want them to.
>>28497613 (OP)For me, it's the Chevy Montana
>>28499179The new Colorado is available with 17 inch wheels in the WT, Trail Boss, and ZR2 trims. Even in the LT and Z71 trims, the base wheels are 18s and the 20s are an option. Dumb bitches with 20s on their Colorados are paying extra for the shittier wheel and tire package.
>>284990722.7s is outliving 6.2s at the moment lol
never owned a truck, may be in the market for one now.
I didnt drive before i had my first kid 6 years ago. Bought a highlander XLE, new, 2018 at the time, now has only 55k miles, excellent condition (no wrecks, no dings, nothing, not even a stain on the carpets, I had it detailed every 6 months). Have 5 kids now, but whenever we take more than 2 we take our minivan. I haven't used the back row in 4 years.
Recently a guy I know that sells cars was venting his job and mentioned that tacomas are sitting on his lot and how the SUVs are just impossible to find. I told him about my car and he said it'd be in high demand.
I'm considering swapping my SUV for a SR5 (I only really care about BSM). I don't go offroading or tow much of anything, but who knows, if I get a truck that may change? I could see myself getting a tiny camper and hauling it to a snow cabin with my oldest kid. Who knows.
Drove a tacoma, seemed fine. My theory is to capture what seems like a "buy low sell high" situation where I can swap my highlander for a tacoma when the used highlander market is at a peak and the new tacoma market is at a low.
Ideas?
>>28497613 (OP)For me, it's the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado, the last Chevy truck that actually looked like a Chevy truck.
>>28498063I'm in the same boat, last three trucks have been GM, but I won't even give them a second glance now. I can't say I've really heard of any issues with Fords using the 5.0L Coyote though, but I also don't see many people opting for the V8 in the F150 for some reason.
>>28497613 (OP)It's a shame they can't put a 5.3 or 6.2 in one of these because of fagulations
>>28500905The Taco's new engine is shit. Expect problems.
Get a Frontier instead.
>>28501540I haven't heard of any issues with the new Taco engines. I mean, I'd rather have a 6 cylinder over a turbo 4, but CAFE regulations have put us in this boat. I've heard the automatic transmissions are having issues though, enough that their will probably be a recall.
