Ours is the non-plug-in hybrid, gets about 45-50mpg (UK). It's dog slow also, so I expected more efficiency.

I find it quite harsh compared to my model 3, which is strange as the Sportage is so much taller. She had a 2015 Santa Fe before this and that was a wallowy beast, took the bumps like it was nothing and bounced around a lot. That's a different class of car but I expected similar.

I have the refresh which is supposed to ride much better than the older ones. It's not perfect but I find it comfortable and handling is good enough to have some fun, but it's not what you'd call sporty.

Good reliability.
Good warranty.
A lot of car for the money, a similar class German/Jap car will cost you some salaries more.
Their Niro PHEV is a great all-around car with good interior space and nice balance between physical buttons and display size.
Their EVs are the best used EVs you can buy.
Cheap warranty since Kia owners all safetymaxx.

This.
In shill threads like this one, I hear about happy Hyundai owners. In real life, I see regret. Always regret.
It's sad that Hyundai has to pay someone to post that they own one of those shitty cars and don't feel screwed over. That money could go towards designing a longer lasting car or at least fund their warranty so that they honor it occasionally.

They both sell minivans but the Toyota is hybrid only - and the worst hybrid powertrain i.e. the shitty rough 2.5 L NA 4 paired with an ancient nickel battery (literally NO other manufacturer still uses nickel hydride batteries anymore)
and the Honda is just OLD it still uses the same cabin the civic had in like 2016 and neither honda nor toyota will update their minivans - the Kia minivan is a stretched version of the Sportage platform so its much newer - 2020.

I have Niro PHEV. Not sure if this applies to all PHEVs but it has a sport mode that charges the battery while on highways. Since my access to charging is poor, I have come to realize that this method gives me awesome MPG. I switch to sport mode on highway, the battery charges, and then I switch to EV in the city. I get way better MPG than just having it on the regular hybrid mode.

What exactly is the downside of this? And why isn't this the default hybrid mode? Because the larger battery does not charge in regular hybrid mode, only the smaller hybrid battery.

its a good size for me - fits a lot of stuff, but also fits through narrow roads - frankly it could be narrower so it fits better on twisties - i spend days driving it on twisty roads - its fine

also i fucked up the oil pan, the differential, the steering rack etc on my last car by taking it on shitty rocky roads - having skid plates on a unibody suv is really nice and they cover everything front to back

Here in Australia we get the diesel, V6 and hybrid. The diesel is by far the most popular because it gets 6.5 L/100km compared to the V6's 9.6 L/100km. It's apparently pretty reliable too. They also put it in the Sorento, and I think it might be the only option for the new Tasman ute.

Kids stay in booster seats until they're 7.
There's still a big advantage for minivans even with 2 kids though. You can keep the baby seats permanently attached in the second row, remove the middle seat, and then any extra adults can walk through the aisle to the third row.
With an SUV you would have to remove the baby seats and put them in the third row every time you carry any adults.

thats probably the faux skid plate for the standard sportage, its a different piece there's two I believe a front and a rear for the prestige and only the prestige - most dont get the prestige package
it also comes with a heated windshield so I have to stare at little wires through the glass while I drive
but might be useful in the winter
and the cheapest all terrain tires money can buy
the interior is 100% plastic no real metal or leather at all - not on the shifter, not on the steering wheel
but - it drives handsfree on the highway

I mean if you go to the car configuator it will show you front and rear skid plates as being part of the prestige package for the x-pro (and oddly, I think, ONLY for the sportage not the sorento or the telluride)
Do I win a prize if it really does have skids?

I mean I don't really know what your picture is of other than its not the actual steel skid plates that my car has and I have ducked under and seen. It's night time bro.

https://www.revmatchmedia.com/posts/2023-kia-sportage-x-pro-review-uniquely-styled-cuv

With this being the X-Pro model, you get a couple of โ€œoff roadโ€ extras. The all-terrain BFGoodrich tires make the Sportage look like its ready for an adventure. To protect it from your bold adventures, youโ€™ll get skid plates in the front and back of the Sportage. The X-Pro was definitely aiming at the RAV4 TRD Off-Road with these options.
