Loans and payments on every possible thing in your life now down to pizzas is simply causing everything to get insanely expensive. Before student loans college was largely affordable. Then everyone agreed to take out loans and colleges simply kept adding zeros to their tuition. Now car makers do that. Hospitals and doctors do that. Basically everyone can get approved for a loan on anything, and think its reasonable to simply make payments on everything their entire stupid life.

It all started with people like the author of that article.

The Honda CR-V is considered a compact SUV. My local price is $36,500. They only sell AWD models here with the snow we get.

So after tax and title that is more than $40,000. Certainly for most people with little down that is easily over $1000 a month.

To be fair, if you could get a 5% HELOC or some other personal loan, you wouldn't be using that to invest. Lender rules not withstanding, you'd never take out a loan with the intent to invest it which is why people get tired of the "yeah I have the cash but loans are smarter" argument. Yes mathematically you're coming out something like 2% ahead which is technically profiting, but its quite the dog and pony show to make a few pennies on such a large amount of money.

This, your average person can barely afford this shit but they're being gaslit into thinking they have to have the most expensive fucking payment they can swing at their income.

It is how it works Anon, if something's absurdly expensive and I can't afford it, and then some stupid asshole like klarna comes along and says I can, well now the price is justified, it can be whatever the fuck they want.

It is literally how it works retard. More loan money = more people can ””afford”” stuff = more demand = higher prices. Student loans caused exactly that. Why wouldn’t universities just keep creeping costs up if they know the government will just lend out money willy nilly for students?

Have you ever bought a car before?

So you’re paying extra in insurance.
Yes I’ve bought a new car before and I paid like 40-50% down and paid the loan off early.

Lmao, no you're not unless it's a lease. The bank doesn't give a shit if you're upside down on the loan and total the car, you're already on the hook for the loan.

Why would you get gap insurance on the value of a car for a lease? A car you're essentially renting? That doesn't even make sense.

See the issue is you are using my assumption of a CR-V. Yes a CR-V at 72 months vs 48 months would be not close to $1000 a month. The issue is in reality people are paying $1000 a month, because they aren't buying CR-V's at 40k. The average is $50,000 for a new car. So that puts it back to $1000 a month. I mean look at the price of a Tacoma. You aren't paying 40k anymore!

Who is this the norm for? People buying new cars? Then yes, I can believe that. With 9% interest rate and the usual note lasting only 36 months, $1000 a month to buy a $30,000 car isn't too strange if nobody will do a down payment.

If I wanted to be a debtard I would put zero down and negotiate the lowest total cost for the vehicle then apply the doen payment amount to the loan balance. Stealerships are turbo jews that will steal your down payment by adding made up bullshit fees to the loan that equal the down payment.

Car loans are for goyim. You only buy cars cash and for less than 5% of your NW (10% if you are really into cars). Drive a shitbox and invest until you have earned the freedom to drive a nice car guilt free

Save up $20-25k, Find you a $20-25k car, get loan if APR is under 7% for like $10-15k, pay off loan while you keep working. That way if you do lose your income 2 weeks after getting said car you already have the cash to continue paying that loan until you get your next job. Or, if you have a 3-6month emergency fund just pay off the car loan to have 1 less debt or thing to worry about while job hunting.

Have the padding in place before you jump and start falling is the moral of that. Its really only once you're so financially and occupationally set should you actually consider a $50k+ vehicle without $50k cash sitting around for it such as being in your 40's with a very stable income, plenty of cash/investments/assets, and very few (realistically zero) other liabilities.
