Why would you buy a tiny and useless cuckbox when you can get a larger and more practical cuckbox for a couple bucks a month more?

Well sedans in general, but you knew that. The real shocker will be midsize trucks, those will become shitover-based FWD unibodies. Then they will come for the half-ton, and possibly more. YOu see what happened to work vans? Those things were designed, built, and spec'd with pride back in the day, now they're shitslabs mostly built by fucking FIAT with infinity electrical gremlins and hideously underpowered engines as your main selling points. Despite this they have a tow rating of 7000+ lbs. So yes, they will absofuckinglutely come for your half, 3/4, and 1-tons

the fleet emission restrictions are over (still there, but there are no penalties anymore) so there is a good chance that some brand sends over a cheap subcompact just to fill the niche.
Will take a couple of years though, my money would be on rebadged stellantis slop

As far as I know the Mirage is still being sold. Hyundai has vehicles in that size segment, which would be the Venue and the Kona. The Venue is actually really small, but the Kona offers AWD.

In the US, your two subcompact options are the Mirage and the Venue. Moving up drives into the compact segment.

If you're poor and a wrenchlet, these cars work, because they come with warranties and the few thousand dollars in price plus an unfavorable APR adds up really fucking fast.

The used market offers an opportunity to buy in cheaper but these days people have treated them as a speculative asset and they still charge too much money for mega miles.

Americans cannot handle the amphibious power of the Picanto. Unfortunately, it's not buoyant enough to keep the average American afloat.

Why would they even discontinue it? I see tons of them zipping around, grandmas driving them, still the cheapest rental option at the enterprise. Fleet sales alone have to make it a huge money maker. It's the car I've rented the most, and I don't hate it.

Americans have actually re-classified the system. The HR-V is considered a sub-compact SUV and the CR-V a compact SUV.
