They should make wagons that are raised a bit so it allows you to easily haul cargo and car seats for kids and stuff.
Oh wait thats exactly what a crossover is
The optimal family car has been achieved and there's nothing you can do about it lol.

you could also make your crossover have 3 rows of seats and a more cargo space if theyre folded down, you now have a minivan. the optimal family/diy/contractor car. thats what really killed station wagons.

I like this development honestly. The main thing keeping me from getting a minivan is the looks.

I wish Toyota would do something like this for the next Sienna.

For the sake of argument. Lets say I take a body on frame Buick Roadmaster with a 350 V8 and I lift it and put a tow bar on it. What is it?

How about if I lower that Suburban down to car ride height? Is it a wagon?

The only real constant definition would seem to be the roof height.

Yeah, and the body height, length, width, suspension setup, ladder frame construction, the grade of steel used vs a car, towing capacity, the accumulation of factors that anyone with an ounce of car knowledge can tell you "thats a truck" with ease

You're not familiar with how huge a Buick Roadmaster is are you?

>suspension setup

You mean like the raised Roadmaster?

>ladder frame construction

The Buick Roadmaster is body on frame dingus, I said as much.

>the grade of steel used vs a car

What?

>towing capacity

Again, I proposed putting a towbar on a Roadmaster with a 350 V8. You think it couldn't out tow a 4 cylinder Ford Ranger?

>the accumulation of factors that anyone with an ounce of car knowledge can tell you "thats a truck" with ease

The raised Buick Roadmaster met every definition you proposed except for possibly "grade of steel" which is nonsense.

I don't acknowledge the crown as a wagon. it's just a chop top crossover. i took measurements of it vs a real wagon and a crossover

5 series - crown - highlander
length 199 - 194 - 195
height 60 - 64 - 69
wheelbase 118 - 112 - 112
ground clearance 6 - 7 - 8

parked next to a real suv it might look like a wagon but parked next to a real car it looks gigantic.

That would be pointless when the Tahoe/Suburban exists. It's even more pointless when the Tahoe/Burb are IFS/IRS and closer to cars than trucks at this point. You can also just buy a 3 row crossover if that's too "trucky" for you.

It's a lot easier than loading shit into something like a low slung sedan. It's just physics but you can try it yourself. It's also easier to get in and out of a taller vehicle than it is to slide yourself in and out of a low slung sedan. That's why old people like crossovers, SUV's and trucks.

You listed 8 different ways that the Roadmaster wasn't a truck and you were wrong on all of them.

So now you've listed size again and you're just digging yourself a deeper hole. Pic related.

Basically, you're a retard and you should have kept your mouth shut instead of digging a deeper hole. I would have been nice to you if you hadn't come out the gate being smug; but you don't deserve. >That argument has never made sense to me.
I do it based on median price and consumer demand for capability to the 95th percentile. Most people drive alone most of the time, for a set distance, for a set time.

If you fall outside of that, then the demands are different, but you're going to be in a way different vehicle than what the vast majority of people will be happy with.

You said that 10 years ago. The desire for CAR REAL BIG will never stop in this crab bucket of a society. Wagon is long, but you don't see long in traffic, you see tall, so crab society will keep buying the crab of body styles, the SUV.
