I just ordered a Ford Maverick XL Hybrid with 3 options (4k tow, AWD, bed spray), in Eruption Green.

My first plans are replacing the all season tires with upsized AT tires (235/70 R17 firestone destination), mudflaps, seat covers, tuxmat floormats, skid plate and a cover plate that covers some exposed wiring at the back that should have been there from factory.

Rate my use of 45k maple bux I got from nvidia stock

Turbo cringe. You could have spent a little more and got a F-150 which would have a much higher resale value.

F-150 is much more expensive, unless you mean used. But you can't compare new vs used prices of different models. And an F-150 is going to be much more expensive to run. The hybrid Mav is going to get twice the MPG.

its a cheap disposable small truck that gets decent mpg. it excels at that exact purpose, and isn’t good at much else. remember that almost nothing in the market today competes against the base hybrid trim.
no, its not gonna tow your giant RV
no, its not gonna tear up the offroad trails
no, its not gonna ride like a cadillac or a lexus, nor have the interior quality of either
no, it’s not gonna be “sporty”
yes, the up trim ones have a lot of overlap with the ranger, getting an up trim one kind of defeats the purpose but some people cant live without cooled leather seats
if this car was a toyota, and not a ford, the simping for it would be even more insufferable

The plastic keeps it light and cheap, this thing is fuckin 1000lbs lighter than a tacoma but has more rear passenger space and roughly equal cabin room in general.

Ford Fusion and Ford Escape hybrids from 2010 era have been reliable with a very similar setup, people have gotten 250k+ miles out of them without any issues on original hybrid battery, so these should be reliable. Lots of the 2022s over 100k now with no issues

Engine is the same 2.5L Mazda co-oped MZR port-injected engine they've been using forever that's rock solid. It should be more reliable than the ecoboost.

Was literally cross-shopping against civics, if this shit gets 40mpg why not have the extra bit of fun? It uses half the gas of the ranger, costs $15k less, and at most I'm gonna put a table or yard waste or some shit in the bed not haul lumber everyday.

>>28500632
4000lbs of towing is -just- enough for a tiny trailer with a shower and shitter, kitchen and a big bed to sleep in. Something like a Sunlite 16BH is only 2650lbs and has all your essentials.

It's more like buying any vehicle in demand you get fucked.

I've sat in the mav and drove it, it was pretty much the same interior wise as my old 2010 accord in space and quality, the hybrid is faster than my k24, while using half the gas.

The ranger's bed is 5 inches longer and at that point you just buy a F150 if you need a ranger. Thing is I don't even need a Maverick it's beyond my needs, but I also don't see the point in buying a civic instead of it

Recalls weren't a big deal until the hyundai shill had to justify those horrible self igniting recalls effecting nearly every car hyundai touched. The shill went off for a while about how every car has recalls, blah blah blah, infotainment screen adjustments are the same as cars self igniting and burning down your house, and then something about their warranty. Now threads outside of the hyundai containment threads get polluted with this crap. Most people don't mind recalls from reputable manufacturers.
And most recalls are fine. Some are welcome improvements. The ones where you can't park your korean car near a flammable object are different. Whenever I see someone going on about infotainment recalls signaling a quality concern, I suspect korean shill hands at work.

>demands all pickup trucks to be body on frame (unknown why),
Because if you use a truck as a truck, a unibody will twist and flex whereas a frame underneath will remain rigid. This was a constant issue for the old Jeep XJ cherokees when they were taken off road, so much so that several companies made weld on frame stiffeners for them. Obviously OP isn't going to push his Maverik that hard, but it isn't some "unknown reason" you are just a wrenchlet who lacks life experience.

At the end of the day I'm trying to get a new daily driver to reward myself for my work. I've ordered this maverick because if I'm getting an overpriced shitbox I'm getting the most capable one. You guys can suggest clapped out used F150s 5Ls with body rust for $20k all you want but I already have family members with these, getting 14mpg reading right on their dash that barely ever changes.

I already go up shitty dirt roads to distant lakes in my accord very slowly a few extra inches would be nice so I don't have to go so slow, I'm not going offroading in my maverick

upsizing from stock 225/65 R17 to 235/70 R17 gives 0.7in more ground clearance. I don't plan to lift it, but stock it only has 8.3in clearance.

I read an article on autopian related to the maverick and there were a bunch of fags in the comments saying it was supposed to be a $19,995 truck and like 5 years after that introductory price $29k for basically the same thing is flat out unacceptable. As if inflation and other input costs haven't gone up along with minor revisions and changes to the truck that aren't seen (like eCVT upgrade) and making the hybrid work with the AWD system well. Of course the bitter dork feelings come out saying Ford is simply gouging people on a popular vehicle.

Yes used half tons can be cheaper, no they're not new and they'll never get 40+mpg so its moronic to complain about the cost of a new vehicle being higher than it was years ago.

>Seems like they still have buyers
They have tons of buyers. The Ranger is a fine truck but for the price simply doesn't make sense. I test drove a Ranger then test drove a Maverick, the $10k price increase made no fucking sense. Slightly larger cabin, slightly larger bed, slightly more towing and 4WD, but not $10k more truck.

I'm just hoping my $28k maverick has excellent resale in 10 years when there are 10million of them on the road and they're probably still selling new for $40k starting.

Almost nobody was actually able to get a maverick for $19,995, dealerships fucked people once they realized these things were wanted.

>>28504754
I've test driven the hybrid and it's still 'peppy' in the sense of getting up to speed quick enough, it's faster than most basic 4cyl sedans. it doesn't feel peppy in the traditional sense with spikes of power like a turbo would have, because it just pins the engine at max power and acceleration is completely linear with no VVT or anything like that.

Also after 2025 Maverick really got tons of updates to the base model. an 2025 XL is more luxurious in a than a 2022 XLT. I feel like the XL trim is a HIGH trim of a 2010 car, it has significantly more shit than my 2010 "EX" Honda in "work truck" trim.

They are being jews with the price, but when the closest competition is also being jews with the price (Tacoma) and nobody else has a MPG option...dealers gonna fuck everyone

I would get one put a bed cap on it and use it for a daily driver and to haul dirty dogs around. probably would work well for camping too but the back seat seems the limiting factor for more than 2 people.
also, why is Ford so fucking weird and won't let you add foglights on the trims other than the one geared towards mexicans? pisses me off because I live in an area that gets a lot of fog and rain.

That's fair. It's essentially Econobox: Truck edition. $33k USD is a good amount of money but it's a nice car. You'll like it.

FWIW as far as economical trucks go used Lightnings are relatively cheap.

By 2030, Ford Motor Company will be a wholly owned subsidiary of BYD.

>I have to buy what’s on the lot
>I can’t just order the exact truck I want and wait a while
Though to be fair the demand was so high in previous years that the wait time was pretty ridiculous.

>price jump is greed/Semitic
Not really.

2021 MSRP: $20k
2025 MSRP: $26.3k
Inflation since 2021: 18.6%

So in 2025 dollars, that $20k car would have cost $23.7k. The increase in price is roughly $2,600 when you account for inflation. It is more expensive, but not that much more expensive. Most of this is due to an increase in options. That affects the price of the base model (it was a huge part of Scion and Saturns business plans, both now defunct because people love options, I guess). It also jumps from an 8” screen to a 13” screen and includes a 5G modem. And I think the gauge cluster is digital in 2025.

Denying its existence is mental retardation. A $20k vehicle today would have been $16.8k in 2021. Are you upset because you’re poor?

I was the other anon pointing out the minor revisions, but I kinda agree with the people upset the price has jumped. A revision on a high selling vehicle just a couple years on stuff that generally doesn't matter is a pretty obvious ploy to raise the price substantially
>transmission upgrade
stronger is better but there wasn't anything wrong with the other one
>bigger screen
That was actually reasonable but shouldn't contribute much to the cost. The cubby next to the 8" screen is dumb
>5g modem
For fucking what? Everyone has a cell phone, I don't want one in the car
>digital gauge cluster
If it means another screen to eliminate physical needles to save a couple bucks, that shouldn't increase the price but NPCs like them so designers are using them

I see it from both ends: Ford did a minor revision that added maybe $1500 in BOM, zero to assembly labor, and the price increased $9000. Plus more common trim items just got bundled into the "base" model. It really was a $20k truck and simply isn't anymore. If it were $25k starting I think people would be less upset as a $5k increase over 4-5 years is easier to swallow than a $10k increase. Entice buyers with a $25k spartan truck, have the dealership sell them on the $38k up-trim truck.

I understand and like the maverick, but you made a mistake in not waiting. The BBB essentially destroyed auot regulations, and the compact truck market is just starting. Dodge for example has become V8 crazy and Chevy has been developing in secret while lying to investors about EVs. Ford will also change too

Digital gauge clusters are actually cheaper to manufacture than traditional gauges, which is why you see those wretched touch screens on fucking everything now.

So that the car can download firmware updates.
I refuse to buy any motor vehicle that needs firmware updates.

But even my 2023 can connect to my home wifi every time I park in the garage. And since everyone has wifi at their house or apartment, why not just make it easier to connect to wifi?
I ask again, what is the purpose of a 5g cellular modem in a vehicle?

I forgot also, there is a Ford app that is actually useful for the vehicle itself. Why not anytime you connect via bluetooth, the app automatically starts and checks if there is a software/firmware update and asks if you'd like to download the update and load it onto the car to automatically update at 1am?
